Hi
I currently drive a RANGE ROVER SPORT which i have had for 6 months from new (TDV6 HSE) Im now looking to sell it, actually someones coming saturday to buy it and now fancy something with a bit more kick!

My choices are:
Gallardo
Ferrari 360 F1
Aston Martin V8 Vantage
Porsche 911 S
OR anything else anyone can recommend. Budget is £95k

I have never owned a car of this sought or even driven one. I'm not super rich either but doing well enough to afford one. Will be driving it everyday to office, give or take a couple of days a week.

Went to my local Ferrari garage at the weekend (graypaul nottingham) and saw the gallardo, v8 vantage and ferrari, all gorgeous which makes me even confused. Will sell the car later on next year, july/august time and get something else. Don't want to loose too much on re-sale either, doesn't everyone say that?!.

Any advice, tips........................anything really will be appreciated.

Thanks

I had a 360, fantastic car, however for every day driving, I think its a little too much. Gear change on the F1 is quite little clunky and I wouldn't want to drive it every day in the winter, especially when it freezes over. If you plan to have a sh*te weather car to assist, then great. I drive a DB9 every day and its a great car for the job - £95k used for a used one? . Not sure about the Gallardo either for every day / winter use although I haven't driven one, so I'd take a 50/50 and shoot for either the 911 or the Aston. On the basis the Aston is something new, its British brand and in my opinion 10x better looking than a 911, I'd go with that. Let me know how it goes...

Looking at the DB9 i think is more suited to what i need. For you DB9 owners, what kind of yearly costs can i expect? I Would be purchasing a used one on a 05 plate, so still with warranty. What are the service costs? whats it like on speed humps? etc Any advice, tips would be welcomed

Thanks

The obvious sensible choice if you only want one car is the 911 and 95k buys you helluva lot of Porsche. I'm on my second 911 and apart from one puncture I've never had to spend a penny on maintenance, repairs. I use mine as a true daily commuter (London traffic) and also as an everyday car for shops, etc. They are a doddle to drive, built like a tank and come with all mod cons for everyday life (Sat Nav, BOSE, etc etc). Performance wise it will still scare the hell out of you and my 997 hit a true 170mph at Vmax. A nice pre-used 997CS can be had for as little as 60k from a main dealer so worth you looking at.

However, they are quite common nowadays and don't have the soul of an Aston, Ferrari, etc

If I had space for two cars and a 95k budget I'd spend 30k on a sensible run around (BMW, etc) and then also get a 'toy' like a F355/F360 convertible for the summer/weekends. Buying pre-used means you wouldn't take the initial depreciation hit.

Whatever you do, make sure you test drive all the cars properly as they all are unique... And that's half the fun!!

Good luck!!

If you want to use it all the time, 12 months per year etc, then Gallardo - 4 wheel drive will really help. DB9 deff over a V8 Vantage (don't like it one bit), and not a massive Porsche fan, although i believe you could possibly get a 997 Turbo for just over £100K depending on Spec ? (awsome car, especially for everyday use).

Thanks guys, much appreciated.

Love the gallardo but not sure on its everyday use, not sure on whether it can clear the speed humps that seem to everywhere in nottingham.

Porsche seems like a all round car but they seem to be everywhere and i think i might have problems selling it as they are so many around.

DB9 seems like a good all rounder, best thing i can do is test them all out :-) and then decide.

Have you thought about a new GT3, you might get one early next year if you're quick.
If it's as good as it's being written up to be, it'll be one of the best ever 911s, and could hold it's value pretty well in the first year at least.
