Other half (clean licence 30 years)received a NIP asking for details of the driver of the car citing a speeding offence on 20th May.Initially confused as the letter said that as it is a company car the accompanying form should not be filled in by the driver! Filled in anyway and sent letter querying. Summons has arrived stating that the offence he's being charged with was on the 30th May - a day when he absolutely wasn't anywhere in the area! The supporting evidence and photo (it was a mobile unit apparently)shows a date of 20th. Any hope of wriggling out on a technicality? Thanks!!

Doubtfull I've posted previously the whole story in the speeding survey about being nicked doing 97 on the M11, when summons came through on the statement of facts it said 67 in a 70 ! It was a 100% typo but I thought I was quids in and off the hook. Long and the short of it was they said typo and changed the evidence and the magistrates allowed it.

Thought as much! Thanks anyway! The stretch of road that they were monitoring is dual carriageway and the spot where the van was parked is right in front of the sign where it changes to national speed limit!I'm sure he wasn't picked on for driving an XJ8.....

erm...I would take a risk and play ignorant in the first instance if you have a good alibi for where he was on the 20th. Write back saying you couldnt possibly have done it because you were in wherever...and pretend to have missed the date on the photo. Its unlikely to make any difference, but in this case they've screwed up and why make it easy? Night

Hmmm...opinions divided on this one, have taken legal advice and both solicitors have advised pleading not guilty.
Mr Robson, any ideas on this one?

Sorry Dawnie I hope you didn't take my experience as a roll over and take it advice. I'd say yes try a not guilty and plead ignorance the bottom line is they've cocked up. You may be lucky and get off totally but don't get your hopes up too much. In my case the magistrates agreed I'd been messed about so even though it went all the way to court I only got a token £40 fine, no points and no costs. So it was still worth it.

Cheers Mel, I appreciate your input. It's amazing how stressful and time consuming this is.We've both been driving like cherubs since, so I suppose the anti- motorist lobby would think it was worth it....
