My gaming rig gave up the ghost around a year ago and have not kept in touch with the latest "hot" games (on and off line).

Just spec'd and ordered a good rig from Scan and will be returning to gaming fold very soon.

So what have i missed and if you had £125-£150 to spend on some games what would be on your hit list.

I tend to play strategy (Civ, AOE) and driving sims(GTR) but like to odd dabble in FPS.

civ 4 is great

company of heroes (wwII RTS) is awesome.

rFactor is the best of the driving games at the moment I think (if you get on with it's philosophy)

don't know about FPS games.

Call of Duty is very good but to be honest I still prefer Half Life 2

If rFactor is not up your street (i.e downloading add ons etc) then GTR2 offers the speed and grip and GT Legends offers a more sideways inclined type of racing so its your choice!

If you like strategy games then the Rome/Medival Total War series are great

F.E.A.R gets my vote for a good FPS.Also Half life 2.

NWN2 (it is a good game).
Doom 3, Quake 4.... Prey is utterly brilliant.

Might be worth picking up a Steam account if you don't have one as Valve are releasing something called 'Portal' which looks brilliant.

I can't wait for Medieval 2,though I'm still playing Rome as much now as I did when it came out in 2004-my favourite game ever, and the only one I still enjoy as much now as I did when it came out.

I was hooked on Shogun and Medieval, but Rome: Total War left me a bit cold... Hopefully Medieval 2 (out Friday - Yay!) will grip me again (once I buy a new graphics card, dammit!)

The one flaw in Rome is that too many of the battles either involve storming a city or breaking out to attack the besiegers, it can get a bit repetitive.

Aside from that it is a superb game.
