Anyone know where I can get a copy? Not the newer versions, the first one, the old standard game that was 'only' about 3mb but seemed huge at the time because it zipped onto about 10 floppy discs, no one seems to sell it anymore.....just Quake and all that new fangled stuff.

Have a hankering for the old days of playing Doom whilst listening to Rage Against the Machine.

don't do it!!! Nostalgia is a horribly cruel beast. I tried the original Doom and Duke Nukem too not so long back ... I was pretty disappointed. Nothing like the heart wrenching nights huddled round a monitor counting down the remaining rounds and knowing there was something big round the corner ...

Same applied to Transformers the Movie. Seemed like a steal at £3.99 but have to say it ain't what it was all those years ago.

P.S Doom (1 & 2) is on amazon for £6.90 .... or your friendly neighbourhood torrent/emule/limewire for possibly less ...

If you get it run the WAD files via the Doomsday Engine - www.doomsdayhq.com/

Much better graphics (higher resolution as standard looks crap on a PC these days)

Doomsday Doom is so much better.

I absolutely loved this game. The guys that came up with this must have had a lot of fun making /testing it.

This was the start of PC's for me and shortly after we started playing Quake1 on the LAN at work.. that is something that will never happen now thanks to IT policy etc.

Can you just download that and play Doom?

No, you need the WAD files from the game itself.
