Ah yes, I was one of the few who actually paid to get in. I say "few" as there was only a handful of people inside when I went. Probably the reason why it was the one and only show in MK.

The city centre hadn't been open very long by then, maybe a couple of years? and Milton Keynes wasn't anything like the size it is now, I'd bet it would work now though - that's an idea to throw around over the closed season!

Lets do it Ray! I can do all the promotion and design needed! There is enough cars in Milton Keynes and surrounding areas to do it...Santa Pod always had a display at the Motoring & Leisure show until last year i think...

I've got (had) a contact in the Centre MK management office a while back, I'll make a couple of discreet enquiries next week to sound them out.

Remember i used to work for the Milton Keynes Citizen so if you need any numbers give me a shout, should be able to get some support from them as they run most exhibitions in Middleton Hall. Give me a mail if you need anything.

This is good news especialy after Gareth Evens has had to shut down his brill site UK1320 (see Togs site)!
If you do get this show going I will come to it for sure in fact I would try to get some mates to come as well. It is forced to be a success what with the internet etc. All the best with it.

Jim, I seem to recollect I went midweek due to the fact that I was only working a 3 or 4 day week, as I think much of the country was at that time. That certainly didn't help the attendance. The show was NOT a success financially. I quote the April 1981 Drag Racing News, "It was a successful show, but not quite so financially, all in all."

Whether such a venture would be a success in 2007/2008, there's only one way to find out.

I've now got some figures for a 2 and 3 day event; if anyone is seriously interested in looking to see if this can be taken any further pm me. It will require sponsorship of the event to make it work

Is there not a way we can incorporate it into a Motorsport show in general and then spread the costs across the formulas. It could be a good showcase for all the teams based in MK and surrounding areas in an effort to gain/retain sponsorship.

That might be an option later Dan, though I'd like to see if the drag racing side could carry it first
