Hey guys been borrowing a Porsche 996 Turbo from a friend and its absolutely awesome. I never fancied Porsches until I drove this monster and now I am finding myself wanting to buy it. Not sure if it is the ideal family car but it is certainly more family friendly than the 360. Anyone got any ideas for a family friendly supercar for about £70,000?? Also where do car phers meet up in Nottingham?? Whenever I go out I never get spotted and hardly ever see any other nice cars.

Will.

P.S Matt if u see this cant make saturday, gotta take missus shopping <sad>.

996/997 turbo is THE practical supercar really, or else get some 2006-on BMW M5 down you, with it's 507 bhp of screaming V10.
7 gears, 8250 rpm, lush motor.

yep. One of my pals drives a 996 Turbo x50. Its blowing about 520bhp and its stupidly quick. Makes my 911 C2 look a bit of a joke really. Hes got 2 other friends who have bought them since after going in it.

Thats the reason I went for the Porker and not a TVR - 4 seats! It aint much fun for adults in the back, but suits my 11 year old just fine.

I finally decided on a 911 after a chat with a pal who drove a Lotus Esprit V8. His words were, "Paul, honestly, it get boring going out on your own every weekend! Then when you want to take the family out, you have to put your pride and joy back in the garage and go out in the missus's excuse for a rubbish bin!"

Will I would definitely try the x50 there is so much difference, when i purchased mine i test drove the standard turbo and found it rather flat!
Just by chance they also had an x50 which after test driving i snapped up immediately and have owned it for over 2 year's.
The car has been virtually faultless, i have since had various tunes and bits and bobs put on and it still drives great!!

I know someone in Woburn with a lovely yellow 56-plate 997 turbo with all the options. Extra torque feature, carbon brakes, the lot. £118K but a fabulous car.

The one I borrowed was an ex race car. I think it had all the upgrades, not sure if it was the x50 or not but it had over 500 bhp, had to give it back today, so im a bit sad. And as the weather is crap here and the missus cant get in the 360 or mr2, ive got to go out in the fiesta, which is gonna be hell. Still the joys of bringing a child into world are hopefully gonna be more fun than cars.
