G'morning all !

I have a date with a girl I really want to impress this Sunday, rather than the usual riff raff I end up with on a Friday night. I've not really made the effort for a couple of years now and I've lost touch with nice places to go.

Inside Out near Preston is a possibility but I've done that place to death in past times. The Wellspring in Sabden is good too, but I fancy a change.

Any ideas of a nice cozy place to go ?

Thanks in advance !

Cheers Mango, I'm at the Olive Press next week for the annual works fight so I've booked Burlingtons after reading some rave reviews (forgot it was there !)

Top marks chaps !

Isn't Burlingtons what was Trader Jacks? Do they still wear the roller skates?

Was at Burlingtons last night with a party of 12 from work! A good atmosphere as usual and definitely no roller skates!

I always thought it was over-rated and over-priced. That was a few years ago and the wine did form a large part of the bill drink

If you like Italian food, try Papa Luigi's at Euxton - it may be a little to far out of Preston for you but I've always had an excelent meal there. Due to the time of the year it may be wise to book.

Thanks again for the advice !

Turns out she saw me taking another girl home on Friday night, I was unaware she was in the pub. Full snub proceedings were issued on Saturday evening, so I didn't take her out.

I was gutted, but it's what I deserve I suppose.

Went for our Christmas do at the Olive Press, and it was crap.

Service was rude, most of them were new that night. Booking was messed up, booked for 16 they had 14 at 5pm when it was booked for 6pm. Food was substandard for the price, undercooked turkey and bland.

To be fair they were at full stretch with the time of year, and a few drunken wideboys on other tables probably didn't help matters.

Used to go there quite often, but then i had a few poor meals, so gave up. It's a pain over summer as they are plagued by flies and most Saturday evenings they put reserved signs on the tables from around 17:00, though the guests dont seem to arrive until way after 18:00. Ive seen many people walk in, see the reserved signs on empty tables and walk out as there is nowhere to sit. The normal mixed grill was good, but they reduced the 'content' and it was never as good. Shame, as when the chef was on song the food was great.

My current favourite is 'Thyme At Sirloin' at Houghton, not too far from Preston and then a little further along the road towards Belmont is the Alghero restaurant (near Withnell cars i think), but you need to book for weekends and probably most other times!
