Does anyone know precisely how FIA approval / non-FIA approval etc fits together for racewear for race and non-race events? I have a set of Nomex triple layer overalls which are probably a few years old, and carry an FIA approval label. However I've been informed that they're not eligible for racing. From the 2005 (admittedly) blue book, I understood that FIA-2000 is required for International level racing, FIAxxxx for National racing, and any approval (not necessarily to FIA standard) for any non-race events. Is this right?

I don't know about the non-racing events but for FIA sanctioned events in the UK and abroad it's Norme 2000 for UK club racing it's generally Norme 1986.
I've got this problem at the moment as all my stuff is Norme 1986 and I want to go to Spa next year and I need 2000 stuff, that includes boots, underwear and gloves.

Ouch!
Thanks for the reply anyway. As ever the Blue Book isn't particularly easy to understand...!
