Went on a bit of a window shopping ride round tyre shops today.

Bridgestone, 205/60 VR14

Kwik Fit - £110 per tyre :-(
North Eastern Tyres and Exhaust £74.99 per tyre :-)

Second doesn't seem too bad, but Kwik Fit are extracting the pi$$ a bit aren't they!

I was subjected to a very amusing joke (hmmm) about them not fitting on my m'bike, oh how I larfed )

Have a look at this site:
www.blackcircles.com
I would have saved quite a bit if I'd known about it a couple of months ago.

Mitcheldever - Falcon Sports - £90 each fitted 225x50x15

I got 4x Marshall Power Racers fitted for £225. from Shipton Bellinger Tyres (Hampshire) Nice tread Pattern, very good in the dry and grippy in the wet. not SO2/3 quality but not SO2/3 prices

It =turns out the guy who owns this place used to race BMW's and raves about Marshalls

I'm trying Khumo's on the 390. Four from Micheldever was £230 fitted. As Jason says, not SO3 quality, but half the price, and they do come highly recommended (for a budget tyre).

Cheers for thoughts+suggestions people.

Biggest problem is the limited flavours of tyres available in that size. They look at me suspiciously at first, "what car is that for?" is usually asked.

£74.99 seeems to be the best so far, still got Just Tyres to try Rich, will see what they say........

Have you thought about replacing the wheels with 15" ones? I did this to get the better tyres. There are some second hand wheels available I manged to get a set of original wheels, in good condition for £50. The originals were from a Ford Granada if that helps.

I've certainly pondered it, but never been convinced by any other than the ones she's got on atm. That said, they are somewhat worse for wear, corroded quite nicely, hmmmmmmm...........must resist..........

The cheapest motorcycle tyres i've found so far are from www.superbiketyres.com, although I agree that blackcircles are competitive

Even on 15" rims it's difficult to get reasonable tyres, see my other thread.

If you're going to change wheels I'd recommend 16", there seems to be more choice. Or go to a 55 profile.
