I don't think it's all doom and gloom and I mainly think that because of Koeman being manager. Of course the real proof of the pudding will be where they end up in the table next May.
Financially, these deals are very good returns for the players and will allow more purchases. Has the academy any more rising stars coming through?

Yeah, quite a few. Matt Targett is touted as Shaw's future replacement and he looks handy. Lloyd Isgrove and Sam McQueen also looking sharp. Harrison Reed had a appearances last season and he's as hungry for the ball as any top level attacking midfielder IMO. They all just need a bit of experience and polish.
We'll have them ready for Liverpool in around 3 or 4 years time

Looks Like Jay is off too
My understanding is that Jay Rodriguez has already agreed terms with Spurs after the clubs met in Toronto last week @BenSmithBBC

Really can`t work out whats going on at St Marys.
Losing a couple of players to,so called bigger clubs yer, but this must be unprecedented. Why do they all want out? They can`t all be greedy tw*ts?
They have just had a great season, and could have pressed on this coming campaign.
Ronald will have a problem getting quality in, how can you convince a player you are ambitious, when you have let most of your starting 11 go, with out much of a fight in most cases! No he will end up signing mercenaries, who will just take there money and have no or little interest in the club.
I hope they stay up, and start the season smashing the RS

Pocco went. Why do they all want out?
Sell Lallana.
Sell Shaw.
'Sinking ship plus bigger teams want us? Can I really make that step higher and play in the champions league?'
Sell Lambert.
Sell Lovren.
Sell Chambers.
I wouldn't be surprised if Sneiderlein and J Rodriguez want out. Southampton have just sold 4 of their best players.

I can see the board taking a HUGE amount of stick if Saints start the season badly.
Would be a delicious slice of Karma if Southampton finish above chief asset strippers Liverpool in the league next season.Alfahorn said:

There was a missing word on my original post. Don't get your knickers in a twist. How about Theo or Oxlaide Chamberlain. No? Just Liverpool stealing their talent then
I'll let you work out what that missing word might be.
I'm not sure where the fault lies with the exodus. Is it the players and their agents for wanting more money and to play at clbs which finished higher than Saints last season? Is it the management who are cashing in? Is it the board who want to realise a return on investment?
I know it's an uncomfortable time to be a Saints fan and I hope that Victor, Cork, Davies, Bouric, Clyne, Fonte & Ward Prowse stay to ensure that the backbone of the team remains. It feels like many impact players have left and I hope that the new gaffer knows how to recruit well and how to bring from within.
Football is not about the fans, it's a business and one which we fans are suffering for at the minute. I had high hopes after last season and I hope that the board/club/manager can help us deliver some on-field success
