Southampton seem to have something very 'right' at the moment, and it is good for the PL!
After a busy summer selling and buying (mainly selling?), which was seen to be a negative, you seem to have hit the ground running, with great performances and results.
Koeman must be excellent at man management, to get everyone onside and playing well so early on, in particular Schneiderlin who wanted a move quite late on?
Anyway, it's all great stuff for the PL, and our enjoyment, as fans of football

And that's when Itchen Bridge cost ~20p ! It's 60p now peak. 50p for match days. Admittedly St Mary's is much closer than the Dell. You could walk these days, just don't jump off. It makes a mess down near the rowing club. dtmpower said:

This team is better than last season and the squad is stronger. Add to that a manager who understands that fans want a good cup run not just steady league form and we could be on the cusp of something very special
I am only kidding - I have been there through thick and thin - the dark times (Branfoot?) and the good times. From freezing my tits off having walked down from school to watch on the concrete terrace at the Milton Road end to the lofty heights of corporate wining and dining in the Oceanclean box at St Marys. And away games including home from home at the Walker stadium to being up in the gods of St James' Park where my fear of heights was almost called upon.

Long distance season ticket holder here too. Live 120 miles away in the midlands go to all games. I spend about a third of my time working in India, so that is planned around the Saints.
This week arrived back into Heathrow at midnight, straight up to the midlands to bed, up and back down the A34 to the football.

Stoke are anti-football - whilst effective at times, the relentless hoofing to the big lump up front is just plain ugly to watch.
Last season, that's a game we could have quite easily lost. Different mindset and much steelier this time round, though - OK, not the prettiest, but a job well done.

What a season so far! I think the key aspect for me is the fact we're doing what we should be doing. With the exception of the draw with WBA, we've got the results you would expect. Losing away to Spuds and Liverhampton? Ok, fair enough. Neither of them are exactly consistent at the moment, but on their days they're more than a match for us usually.
But when you look at the rest, we've not slipped up yet. We've won games even when we haven't played well (which for me is the key to a decent league finish, something all the big teams seem to be able to do) and last season if we had a run of Newcastle, West Ham, Swansea, Sunderland and Stoke, there's absolutely no way in hell we'd have won all of them, even if we were playing well generally.
It's the best Saints team I've seen in my lifetime, even more so than 2003 and I didn't think that'd be beaten so soon. I thought last season went really well, but the start to this season has blasted it so far. Yes, we've not had all the tough games yet, but we have won the games we needed to win, and that's something we never manage usually.
I'm going for a 6th place finish. I think it'll come down to us against Everton, Spuds and Liverpool. I don't think we'll get CL, but I also don't think we're ready for it. We'd probably stand a chance in Europa though. I'm going against last season and hoping for a decent cup run this year too.
