Hi guys still pursuing 911 Turbs, and have found one I think is a good un. Going to get Peter Morgan to check over first. Before I take final plunge realise these are not Nissan Micra money to run but have run 993 and M5 previuosly. Ive done the man maths and 2002 cars for mids 40k's seem like a lot of cat for the money. Other alternative is to buy new Cayman
Can anybody give me an idea of costs for:

- 12K and 24K services
- Tyres
- Brakes Disc and Pads
- Clutch

Just want to be prepared for the worst/ best.
God I want one so much its hurting.
Here's hoping.

have a look at dazrens profile, he tends to log all the running costs and it should give you a good idea

Normal road use will not go through brake discs and pads as quickly as I do.

forget the Cayman!

do you have a good indipendant locally? - that would help.

check with your nearest OPC and indi for the costs you're after.

I agree - 996turbo's are astonishingly good value now, the idiosynchrasies of the 911 market has made these the bargain of the century... er ok the decade!

I remember my first Porsche in 1999 - a 1995 993C4, it cost me over £48k.....compare that to a 4 year old 996 turbo now!

You seem to go through floor mats faster than any other 'consumable'!

I have a bill for ~2500 quid that says different.

Or you could just buy my turbo and not worry about the clutch, service or warranty

Not sure what 02 you have in mind for mid 40s though but a nice one like mine is ~50k:

Yes. A change of driving footwear seems to have slowed matters down, although I've never had to buy replacements mats for mercs or BMWs.

Soovy, these costs look well light to me. My standard 48k service was £1200 (with no extras), you sure the 24k service is only c£500 or is this the cost for non turbo 996? Also, turbo rear tyres for £100 each ? Where from and what brand ? Mine were just south of £400 for the pair. scratchchin

Can't comment on brakes as mine has ceramics yikes

Hmmm. I always ask for the menu service at the menu price.

The last one (84k @ 52,000) was £400 ish.
The previous on (72k @ 44,000) was £500 ish.

This doesn't include plugs or brake fluid though (£200 each ish)

Turbo prices are higher. OPC have a fixed price menu for all services. I'll see if I can scan it.

Mine's just been booked in for it's major service (48k, or 4 years), and it's around £1100, including plugs. Apparently, theyt have to drop the intercoolers out to get at them, and this obviously puts the price up. Standrad service 12 months ago was about £400 if I remember rightly.

Indeed spark plugs add ~500 quid owing to access issues. My 48 month service was about £1200 quid including plugs. Can't comment on other services yet although I could pull through the old receipts if necessary.

FWIW I found the performance improved fairly drastically with the new plugs at four years.

When I was thinking about a 996TT, I checked the prices for Clutch & Brake replecement with my local Indie. They quoted £1,350 using Official parts for clutch replacement. £45k for an '02 Turbo is about what it's worth as a private sale. When I was looking 6 mths ago, a 2003 996TT manual with 30k miles booked at £45k.
