As you say, keep the original speedo in the box that the new one came with AND get a recognised dealer/indie to do the change and make a note of it with the mileage and their dealer stamp in the service book.

From a personal point of view, I would rather buy a car with the origianl speedo still in place. All depends whether you're allowed to have a speedo showing kph instead of mph. I believe it is against the law but could be wrong.

The law, I believe, requires only that you have some mechanism to measure your speed. It does not stipulate that the measurement should be in MPH. If such a law existed it would surely be part of the MOT test - and it isn't. There must be thousands of LHD cars in use in the UK with KPH speedos. The laws elsewhere are likely to be different.

Its fine - certainly not against the law.

I have a kmh speedo in a LHD 993.

I would not like to change the speedo, or buy a car with a replaced speedo. I think a better solution would be to get a company like Reap Automotive (I think I got that right) redo the dial so it reads in both kmh and mph.
