Went to take the 993 out for a spin today and found that after limited use over Christmas and during the recent lousy weather the battery didn't have sufficient charge in it to turn the engine over, although all the lights came on. Since I won't be using the car again for at least two weeks there was no point jumping it with one of the other cars so I sadly closed the garage door and left it to it's own devices. However, is that going to cause further problems with the battery? Does the charge left in it stabilise, or will it go on deteriorating if not charged. Unfortunately my garage does not have an electricity supply, is too far from the flat to send a cable out to, and has no windows so any form of solar powered charger is out.

The battery will continue to lose charge slowly. It can be permanently damaged if you let it run down completely, although it will take several weeks to get to this stage.

As a general rule of thumb if your battery and charging system are in good condition then you should be able to leave the car two to three weeks without using it and not experience any starting difficulties. Since you don't have a power supply in your garage all you can do is make sure the battery is in good condition and drive the car every couple of weeeks.
