Just been looking at your "Mr White meet Mr Orange" thread. I noticed than in your fleet you have a lovely Audi RS2....that wouln't happen to be the one featured in EVO magazine this month would it? Lovely car anyway even if it wasn't the one featured. Definitely a classic.

...how was the day? I thought Haymans comment about it being a good tow car was a bit harsh, but maybe not that harsh as you obviously use it for that very prupose...did you mention this to the evo staff laugh still one of my favorite "classics" though.

A great experience - all of the Evo staffers treated us (and our cars) really well, and there was very much a PH-like enthusiasm from all of the owners there. And yes, I dod happen to mention I bought is as my tow car. rolleyes

Seeing how the photographers worked was enlightening, and of course we got to find some more excellent driving roads .... driving

nono No way! I don't think you'd find a W registration Chimaera in the same condition as the one in the test for £10K either. rolleyes

Exactly,,,,thats why it seemed so pointless, at least when Top Gear teased us with the budget Italian exotica, they also showed us the slightly less glamourous and potentially expensive side to ownership.

It was a good article with some nice cars but I noticed that they said a decent 968CS wasnt available for £10K but mine is for sale at less and although others on the market are over 10K it would have been nice to see a 968 included because it is always popular with buyers and less niche than an Espirit.

Still, I guess they couldnt please everyone and maybe they wanted to include less obvious choices.

...i wondered how sympathetic they would be on the machinery. There was a couple of pics of the m5 with it's tail out! Did you ride along with them? If so how comfortable did you feel and are there any stand out drivers amongst them?

Rode along with most of them and was quite comfortable with their driving - no less sympathetic than I am.

The types of driving varied from runs out (in convoy) to get petrol to action cornering shots to getting an impression of the car, so I didn't necessarily see what all of them could do as drivers. What it did show was how the photographers drive the whole two day test, with the journos having to fit their driving in around the shooting. Oh, and nice to chat to John Barker who was at the RS2 launch all those years ago.

I agree, but then I would do...I own a 968CS as well!

I guess you could say that the 968CS was covered in its class by the Mazda RX-7...but if you read any magazines of the era, the majority of them rated the 968CS far above the RX-7 for driving thrills.
