My mate's 993 has got a problem with the sunblind. It's come detached from whatever keeps it in place and retracted onto its spool. So the track or clips or whatever it is that pull the blind to the front of the car are still at the front, but the blind has whizzed backwards and flipped round the spool. If that makes any sense at all.

Anyway he can pull the blind out from the spool, but he can't see what he needs to attach it too unless he opens the glass roof. But to open the glass roof he has to first retract the blind (or in this case the clips that pull the blind out). Which means that when he opens the glass roof, the clips or whatever it is that the blind attaches to is not there. If anyones following this at all, and has any idea how you can open the glass roof but still leave the blind fixings at the front. Or if you know how to reconnect the blnd to whatever it is that pulls it out. Then your advice would be very welcome.

Cant give you any advice on how to fix it, BUT I have known dealers spend 3 DAYS sorting out glass Targa roof problems. Good Luck

Better find someone who has experience of these as a mate of mine had one.

Cost him £9000 when it went faulty

Well the glass roof works fine.

Even the blind mechanism goes backwards and forwards okay.

He just can't have the blind across because it's not attached to the mechanism. The blind suddenly pinged open and now he can't work out what connects it to the blind 'pullers' on each side.

There was a similar problem with the blind on my Targa when I bought it 3 years ago, but the seller (RSJ) had informed me of it and was prepared to pay for the repair. I took it to the East London OPC who repaired it within 24 hours and charged approx £400 for the job. The blind has worked perfectly ever since, though I have to admit I seldom use it.

Took my (996) Targa to the OPC due to a leak. Two weeks drying it out, fixing the leak, drying it out again after they left it out in the rain the night before I picked it up and realised they hadnt fixed the leak then plugging the leak with sealant. Then I had to return it for a week as the blind had worked loose and made a loud grinding/clicking noise when retracted and the hatchback would no longer close, then I had to return it again a week later as the sliding roof wouldnt open or close, then I got it back fixed.

Targa's can be a bit tricky I think !

Not sure how I feel about the OPC, yes they didnt check things worked before returning it but they did stick at it and were very helpful and apologetic, and they fixed it and Targa's can be a bit tricky I think.
