Following on from last year's successful event (discounting the bit where we got stopped by the Gendarmerie ) the Chateau Run for 2007 is in the process of being finalised.

The main difference for the 2007 Run is that it will be spread over a weekend, rather than a single day. The relevant dates are Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th June 2007.

This year we intend to travel to Chateau Tilques.

Itinerary.

Friday:
Meet at services (J8 on the M20) at 8:30a.m. Depart at 9:00 to catch the 10:20 am EuroTunnel. Arrive Chateau Tilques approximately 12:30 pm - afternoon free to either drive out or just relax and enjoy the surroundings at Chateau Tilques with a few glasses (bottles!) of vino. Informal evening meal at Chateau Tilques.

Saturday:
Drive/convoy/possible vineyard and tour - TBA
Formal dinner at Chateau Tilques - hopefully Black Tie and Posh Frocks.

Sunday:
Depart Chateau Tilques late morning, heading back to Calais via Boulogne and the scenic coast road. Calais to Folkestone crossing at 16:50 pm.

For anyone interested in joining us details are listed below for you to make the relevant bookings (Eurotunnel and Chateau accommodation)

www.eurotunnel.com or www.eurotunnel.co.uk
For the full weekend, book outward journey Friday 22nd June @ 10:20am. Return journey Sunday 24th June @ 16:50pm. All times are local

Accommodation (Friday and Saturday night)
www.chateautilques.com
Contact number +33 3 21 88 99 99 Fax +33 3 21 38 34 23
Available rooms range from large suites to very reasonable double rooms.

If you have any questions please PM either myself or IanQV

When adding your name, please just cut and paste the list to keep the thread size down.

I just went through the online booking process...

£155 per night!

(That's 2 people in a double room)

I think you may find cheaper rooms if you give the Chateau a ring, as a lot of the rooms are not priced on the on-line booking page.

Ok That's a relief!

I've done an online price enquiry for a single room - I'll see what that comes back with too... I'd very much like to make this

Best bet is to wait until IanQv logs in, as he has all the lowdown on the Chateau and should be able to advise accordingly.

ETA Thanks to Blondemoment for supplying the following link which should allow you to make a discounted booking online (ps ignore the map on that site as it is pointing at the wrong hotel)

Thanks for that link... that's an infinitely more reasonable £85/night for 2 people

I shall take care of this next month (or march!)

...but I'm so up for it!

Greetings ALL!

Sorry for the delay in logging on.

Ok, to answer the questions already raised.
I have just spoken to "Vincent" at Chateau Tilques (VERY helpful and speaks perfect English).

Master Suite £303
Smaller Suite £168
Standard Double Room £125
Comfort Double Room £103
Single Room £103

Above prices are per room per night and are quoted in GBP.

Breakfast £13 per person

If you search the Web you will find various deals, but buyer beware! if you book direct with the Chateau, and they make a mistake - it's down to them to put it right.

Tunnel crossing is at £118 (But this price is likely to increase the closer you get to the travel date).

I hope I have answered the above questions?
Please feel free to pm me or lambochick if you require any help with your booking.

Regards

Ian

Yes please! We were thinking that we might be in France at a bit before you arrive so would have made our own ferry crossings etc. All we would need to do would be to book that hotel. We could then perhaps tag on to the rest of you guys?
Might that be OK?

Sounds good to me. There's also an option for anyone who would prefer to only do the Saturday and Sunday. Obviously we intend for the big dinner on Saturday evening, so wouldn't be missing out on the important bit. (Would also help to keep the cost down, if that is a factor for anyone.)

Just trying to think what we might like to do on the Saturday. What do people think to a run down to the old GP circuit at Reims? It's about 150 miles/2 1/2 hours from the Chateau, or is that too far?

If it was like last time should only take about an hour and half...
I'm up for it (but there again I have A/C, CD Player, Warranty, Sunnies etc...)
