Jeez, I've been sent this petition by just about everyone I know (so I now have 2 copies).

But surely we should all support road tolls not reject them.

I'd rather pay a fortune and have empty roads instead of getting stuck behind slow driving numptys round every corner.

Same thing goes for air travel. Why Easyjet don't quadruple their tariffs and carry just 25% of the passengers is beyond me? They'd make the same revenue and profits, cause less pollution, and I wouldn't end up waiting for endless single mums with 5 kids each and 3 pushchairs each to board the plane in fron of me.

I bet driving was much more fun when only the local squire could afford to be on the road.

Why don't they just triple fuel prices? Has a similar effect and needs much less technical gizmos and big brotheresque technology...

Couldn't agree more. I turned right when boarding a plane once - it was horrible. I still have nightmares...............

If only it were as simple as that. It's the use of those two words "vehicle tracking" that concerns me, ever so slightly, just one little bit....that kind of implies that there might, just might, mind you, be some way in which my movements could be monitored...or perhaps, and here's a thought....if I happened to exceed the speed limit for whatever reason...it might be possible for that to be picked up without a speed camera or policeman being within 10 miles of my car....but surely that couldn't happen could it?.....

...oh, and I also live not too far from a trunk road that by some quirk of fate appears to link up with some other trunk roads that between them kind of create an "outer" M25 - I wonder whether the imposition of tolls on major roads might lead to a build up of vehicles on those more minor roads too?...

That's why I've signed the petition.

Road charging will only become a reality if the British motoring Public allow it to happen.

If the overwhelming majority of motorists refuse to comply with the proposals and simply say "NO", I fail to see how the plan can proceed. Although the behaviour of this government indicates otherwise, we still live in a democracy.

Personally , I find the idea of my movements being electronically tracked by some government tax collecting agency , totally unacceptable.

Many of us will recall what happened to the Tories poll tax.Road charging could probably go the same way.

That's because you boarded using the rear door. If you turn right when you enter the aircraft there, you enter the toilet.

That`s where they keep your luggage during the flight isn`t it ?

I had a bloody nightmare flight myself the other day, first they ran out of Chablis & we had to make do with a very average Sancerre then one of the massage motors on the flat bed was a little weak and to top it all off the Clarins comfort bag had been replaced with some unknown brand, Molton Brown I think !

What is the world coming to. What are the beds like on Easy Jet flights, I`ve seen their planes when we`ve picked up customers from some of the provincial airports.

Can you just imagine the riots.

[irony]
Sadly the proles are now used to their right to dirt cheap car travel. Why don't we just gas them or something. Then they wouldn't want to travel by car at all?
