My exhaust on my 996 is on the way out - so thinking of getting a sports exhaust (on which there are plenty of threads!!!!) .

If I dont get a PSE will it impact or invalidate an official porsche warranty (I'll ask the man at porsche too). Are there approved exhausts??? Any insights??

On a seperate note - has anyone ever used Tower Porsche (by tower bridge in London) - thinking they could fit a sports exhaust as they're nice and close.

Cheers

How'd you mean your exhaust is on the way out? .. Many of the rear boxes show rust on the seams but apparently that's normal if that's the trouble...

.. Or could you get it under warranty if it's really on it's last legs

(i.e. get them to pay part of your PSE )

Used them this week to fix the stiff gearlinkage on my Boxster. They did a good job but charged much more than orginally quoted (THOUGH THS JOB WAS NOT THE ONE THAT THEY INITIALLY THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE WHEN I ASKED THEM TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE OVER THE PHONE AND THEY KNOCKED 10% OFF THE BILL SO FAIR PLAY TO THEM).

They have alot of 996s going there for engine replacements and have a dim view of the quality of later cars

ballcock - I thought the exhaust wasnt covered under the porsche warranty - pretty clearly states that in the warranty pack (it is the seams as you say) - so surely they wont pay towards a new exhaust - although I'd be delighted if they did!!!

There is only one real way to find out. Just take it to the OPC

What is this "warranty pack" to which you refer? Do you mean the leaflet that's got your details written into it - or do you have something more substantial?

Thanks Fabster , It might not be a bad idea to get a second opinion on whether it needs to be changed .. I've heard that most of the early 996's have rust on the seams but they still do the job perfectly ..

.. However it is a good excuse if you wanted to convince yourself that needed changing
