Right I am in need of a recommended dog kennels for my mums 6 month old Lab retriever. we are all going to the US in April ( myself, the wife, my daughters and mum and brother in law) and as my grandparents who live close to my mum can help but as my grandfather has terminal cancer so we don't want them to worry about Alfie ( the dog)

any recommendations in the Bristol/bath area.

many thanks in advance

there are a few about the area, check the local directories,it is always worthwhile visiting the kennals beforehand to see how they care for the animals as some are better than others!

p.s on a thread hijack..if anyone else is thinking of a Florida holiday I have a villa for rent! pm me for details

Have you tried 'Barking Mad'? They place your dogs with one of their registered dog minders in their home.

It costs slightly more than kennels, but they get looked after like pets while your away. Definately worth doing if you're going to be away for a couple of weeks or more.

We have one in Exeter, but I'm sure they run it as a franchise and have more nationwide.

Seconded. Quarantined a dog here a few years ago and the staff were absolutely fantastic.

I shall not name and shame but went to a local kennals in Siston Hill, Warmley just to get an idea of what they were like before putting the dog with anyone. Well I would not but my fish there lets alone my dog or mum.
