Not a lengthy article but he didn`t really like it. Troublesome gearbox, poor ride and tramlining. BUT, it`s fast. Prefers the standard C2.

Thought all the tramlining issues had been sorted with the 997?

What does Clarkson know?

He gets so many free drives he can't remember the last one.
And I'm sure he writes his notes before he gets in the cars anyway!

He also basically admits to morning after drink driving in the article!

Not according to Clarkson. Car follows the dodgy surface.

Mine doesn't tramline, although the 996 GT3 did.

Depends whether the PCGB press car has a more compromised track set up.

Indeed my 996 RS changed lanes by itself!

Which is strange because mine doesn't unless I'm going way too fast for conditions.

I am not sure Tramlining has been completely eliminated - I don't suppose it is possible to completely remove that feeling with such a focused car- My 997 GT3 does certainly feel more lively then my 997 C2S it replaced - but I think it would be a major stretch of the imagination to suggest the car is an unruly vehicle to drive.
It certainly does not present a big problem to me - and at the risk of sounding like a luddite of a driver - The 997 GT3 can easily be driven at pace with the lazy 'one hand on the wheel' (just make sure you have a strong grip)...

I remember back in the Performance Car days, when Clarkson was still fresh from the Slough Gazette (or wherever he came from), was let loose in an E28 M5. He raved about those for ages. Then about high performance BMWs in general having had the chance to try a few more. He then got into Jags, having been won over by the XJR, and suddenly BMWs became rubbish. Then Jags in general became flavour of the moment. He subsequently had a big affair with Ferrari, and suddenly nothing could hold a candle to those. It was AMG Mercs next, and Jags became rubbish. It's a Lambo now, and naturally that's better than a Ferrari because Jeremy has one.

Entertaining as he is; he's just a bloke. He isn't much of a driver, I don't think he gets in the least bit anorak-ky about his cars. Every now and again (like the rest of us) he gets a notion in his head about some car or other, and bangs on about it. I love his writing and TV stuff, but I pay his opinions absolutely no heed whatsoever. I've been reading him too long to still be under any illusion that he has any more of a clue than I do.

Loach....you're spot on. Trouble is all the doris people take notice of the swede.

It says it all when every single journalist raves about the GT3 except him.

What does this make him????

"In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king" springs to mind. The sort of people/muppets that base a purchase on what Clarkson has to say, don't know enough about cars to form their own opinions. I have no patience for them. If Clarkson doesn't like the GT3, then all is well, I say. In fact - it'd be nice if he hated it. Let him bring his flock somewhere else, and leave the GT3 alone and Doris-free.

I spend loads trying to sort mine, differant tyres, jzm setup, nothing helped.

Then again it was the press car!

I drove a 996 GT3 and it was just as bad. Maybe your used to it?

The wheel moves a lot, but if you just relax with it, the car tends to track straight I find. It's a stimulating car to drive, but I haven't been dumped in the wrong lane of the motorway since I had the geo sorted a 2nd time. The 1st time I had it done by JZ it was actually worse - 2nd time I took it in the rear toe was all wrong, and once corrected its pretty good all things considered.

If a magazine is going to review how a driver's car drives, one would expect it to publish a review that was written by a driver.
I'm sure that Jeremy could write a brilliant, insightful review of a Rolls or Maybach, maybe even a Continental GT.
