it's always worth commending good service that one has received, just as we should shame those shysters who serve us badly.

with this in mind, i'd like to point out that I picked up a new tyre the other night from Event Tyres ( www.event-tyres.co.uk/index.php ) who not only were kind to me in fitting the tyre when they should have turned me away (it was past 5:30pm and I was late) but also charged me £56 for my Pirelli P6000 including balancing, valve & fitting as opposed to kwik fit wanting £94.50, black circles wanting £77 and a local firm wanting £72.

they will also come out to you and fit it at your office (except I needed it immediately)

so, here's a shout out for good service to the chaps at Event Tyres clap

I would have told you to off.

Not that it would have had any connection with the post though.

I agree its nice to hear of a recommendation but this may well turn into a tyre does / don’t !

My porker came with P6k’s and they have been fine so far Mmmmmmmm! I’ve done 4 track days (700+ mls) and loads of normal A+B road driving and still haven’t worn the buggers down, a very hard warring rubber (with plenty of tyre squeal due to the hard composite). But I must say they are very, very, VERY slipy in the wet. I will be changing them for something else (note sure yet, need to scour the forums) and wont be buying P6000 due to the bad press. Really sorry if this has put you off, and spoiled your thread.

If any of you are nearer the south end of the North West, I can recommend County Tyres in Stafford. I recently had two Michelin Pilot Sports for the front end of my Aero and they were cheaper than Black Circles (or any else I could find on the web). Plus the fitting was done with great care and respect to my alloys etc.

:groan:

the reason I put a P6000 on is because I was replacing a balded one (caused by a knackered wheel bearing) and the moron who owned the car before me had probably had the same thing happen and had stupidly replaced the other original with a P6000...so as i'm planning to change all four tyres to some provided by Jude Performance in Newcastle in a few months there was a need to buy the same tyre as was on the opposite side.

I know they are crap tyres, but at least now the front has the same (ie predictable) level of grip!

can't wait for my new BF Goodrich tyres cloud9
