I`m a big motorsports fan...and I mean I like them all...BTCC should be in my top 5 racing series to be following ...
...but it isn`t....( FWD....never a good start. )
It would not be missed if it were to be dropped...I just can`t stand the gelled up pretty boys in the sport...and they could never be any kind of hero/idol of mine in the way the boys were during the golden age from 1980`ish up until around 96..

Not sure about the new rules...the '4-door' rule has put paid to the Integras, sadly (wonder who pushed for that one after being drubbed 2-years running by an indi team?!?!?).
It sounds like there'll be a whole host of extra costs too...which can only favour the manufacturer-backed teams. One of the nice things about BTCC was it was a level-enough playing field that true independents could compete (Mike Jordan, for example). Not sure that'll be the case this year.
Still, was planning to go to more Brit GT events this year, so that could well substitute...

For a day out watching motor racing, I think the whole BTCC has some real merit and is good value. Not bad telly either.
Don't quite get the "Touring" thing - recent years it should have been the British Shopping Car Championship but new regs should change that.
Not sure if it's still the case but it was once the second most spectated sporting championship in the UK after football.

far better racing on over the year - that doesnt need a special rules in the Blue Book to make it 'interesting' for the TV viewers.
Tho the support races can be alot better.
Get along to see any of the following:
Heritage Touring Cars
Classic Sports Car Club
750mc
TVR Dunlop Challenge
Formula Ford
any of the caterham championships
Vintage Sports Car Club
Heritage GP Club
HSCC
Brit GT/F3
the list goes on...

2 Litre cackpot formula is pathetic and was from the word go. Close racing but that's it. I want close racing plus more power than grip and rear wheel drive.
Have a look at this and tell me you wouldn't like to see this sort of stuff again...

Sounds like you want Caterham racing - RWD, more power than grip, incredibly close, very little contact.

Very little contact ? Are you sure ??!!
I raced them for over six years and remember things slightly differently
OK, compared to BTCC - you don't nudge to overtake in 7s. The odd wing and nosecone due to differing opinions on brake points is a bit different to using body panels as a position-gaining device.
I liked it in the late 90's where there were lots of teams and still proper saloons.
Volvo, Ford, Renault, Nissan, Honda, Vauxhall all battling it out. Now its just pretty boys driving hot hatches and theres only 2 manufacturers teams and only really 4 proper teams in the entire race!

And IMHO the new rules will only make it worse - all the changes will make it harder for a true 'independent' to field a competitive car, so the chances of a podium going to anyone outside of SEAT, Vauxhall, Team Dynamics/Halfords or WSR/Team RAC is negligible.
So this year is likely to get dully predictable, with yet more panel-bashing.

Each to their own. I don't mind the BTCC but much prefer actually being at trackside as opposed to watching on TV.
As for the Caterhams, every time i see them i usually have to be woken up from a deep slumber.
