Alfa adds options to 147 hatch

Paint, leather and alloys at standard price

Alfa Romeo 147 Collezione
Alfa Romeo 147 Collezione
Alfa's offering a limited edition version of the 147 hatch, with added extras.

The Alfa 147 Collezione models, of which only 500 will make it to the UK,  include metallic paint, leather interior and 17-inch spoked alloy wheels, all of which are normally options.

As well as all that, you get steering wheel mounted controls for the CD player, manual climate control, an alarm system and six airbags, ABS with EBD, and ASR traction control.

Engines remain unchanged -- there are 1.6-litre and a 2.0-litre petrol mills, along with a 1.9-litre turbo-diesel.

Prices start at £13,950 -- about the same price as a standard model.

Sales must be slow at Alfa...

This has been out for a few weeks and they have all but been sold. I have had real problems getting one for our fleet (yes I know will probably break down but that is what the girls wants).

Ho ho, I once had an Alfasud Sprint that was so pretty and a full four-seater with a semi-hatchback tail.

Handled beautifully when it went.

Ha! The only reliable thing was that it was unreliable -- as in 50/50 chance of waiting for the AA after any party you care to mention.

It drove me into the arms of Honda for quite a while, but Alfas still tempt me even now!!

I`ve had two 147`s as daily smokers and never had a fault with either of them. They`ve certainly been more reliable than my Porsches!

That's a bit like saying you went out with a girl 25 years ago who had smelly feet so you've never been out with a girl since and have stayed at home with your cat.

All JTD's 115, 120, 136, 140, 150, 175, 200 Bhp are Alfa's (Fiat's) own engines. Nothing to do with GM. GM buys them for Saab, Opel/Vauxhall, Cadillac and maybe others.

Exactly. Chestnut time.

From personal experience
Recent cars :
Alfa 75 - never a problem, always fun.

Golf IV - both side windows slammed into door on seperate occasions (tremendous fun when you have to park the car in the wrong side of town for the night, or while driving through the rain) / all light bulbs need replacement yearly / windscreen wiper motor went / waterpump broke / etc..

Peug 206 - (had it two years) : clutch replaced / waterpump broke / clutch replaced again / etc..

Golf V tdi - oil consumption so worrying I sold it the moment the warranty expired. Esp failed while on ice.

Alfa 147jtdm - had it for eight weeks, did 10k , got three speeding tickets (first ones in three years' time) and the grip, oh the grip that thing has! : so far it's fun *and* reliable.
