Gascoyne, however proved beyond a shadow of a doubt in spite of Toyota's open chequebook that he's not even close.
Open cheque book is irrelevent if your hands are still tied by corporate politics.......
Gascoyne never stood a chance of success at Toyota.....as no one else will.

i am actually inclined to agree with this. it was the same at jag-warr.
honda and bmw's 'smaller' corporate outlook seems to be better suited (as does renault being able to keep the motorsport activities seperate).

Technical Director: Chassis, Budget £Whatever it takes.
I'm sceptical of anyone who can take that - with basically NO fear of failure (they were failing already, so where's the fear?) And fail to build a car with even one genuine talent.
Newey, Byrne, White all built cars with mediocre aspects but to take everything and succeed in a greywash of mediocrity takes something special.
The title of this thread is way off the mark.
MG probably didn't track down the nearest BBC reporter to spout off his opinions on JB.
More likely the reporter spotted Mike, maybe asked a few half hearted questions about his role at the new team - all as a prelude to the most important question:
"What about Jenson's chances this season?"
The way the media, especially ITV sport, fawned over JB last season was just embarrassing. I hope he does well but the sport doesn't revolve around one guy.

shame he couldnt have just said "i hope he does really well and gets a few more victories" and left it at that..... support the British and so on, its not like Spyker will be challenging Honda so there are no politics involved, yes, it does just smack of wanting some column inches and promoting the Spyker....
its not like his comments are anything we havent heard before "race winner? yes; championship contender? doubtful".
