Just a reminder to anyone using the A46 westbound near the Stonleigh/Nat Ag Centre junction...

There is occasionally a scameravan set up on the bridge, designed to catch speeders as they come around the corner from the A45 junction.

I'm waiting for my NIP/SP30 to come in the post - busted in the nearside lane, empty carrigeway on Saturday 10th Feb. I may have been breaking the law, so I'm not feeling too indignant readit

From the few Saturdays i've been that way it seems that's his favourite place on Saturday - always in light traffic, sitting on a bridge with a bend before it

They'll occasionally target the northbound carriageway as well...can pick you up from c. the 1/2 mile marker for Stoneleigh Junction (i.e. as you round that corner). F-i-L managed to sucker an aggressive tailgater in this way! hehe

I do the A45-Stoneleigh journey every day for work now, and funnily enough they've not been out when it's been very cold, raining, or snowing. Would've thought the roads would have been more dangerous in rain/snow!!! scratchchin

If it's a nice day though it's a 50-50 shot whether they're there or not (well, maybe not quite 50-50, but frequent enough not to take a chance).

Other local spots I know of:-
- A46 southbound, south of M40, first single-carriageway stretch, at the end of the short 2-lane overtaking bit just before the bridge, intended to catch people accelerating to complete an overtake on a short piece of road. Occasional only.
- Fosse Way, c.100yds south of A423. Facing northbound traffic, just at the bottom of the hill. More frequent.
- B4100 Leam-Gaydon road. Two or three spots:-
1) c.300yds east of the big Leam/Wark roundabout, facing westbound traffic, sitting in the driveway of the nice house about 100yds west of the M40 J13. Frequent.
2) (Apparently) a layby between M40 J13 and the Fosse Way roundabout. Not seen, but heard of when I worked at Gaydon.
3) (Apparently) some distance past Gaydon plant, and after the pub/garage. Not sure where though.

Any others in the Cov/Warwick area we should know about? Vans or handhelds?

You'll get away with 78 y'know - assuming it's the bit I think it is with a 70 limit.

paul smith says he is yet to hear of anyone being prosecuted for 10% plus 1 over the speed limit, any more and yes, it happens.

ask your friend to get in touch, im sure he would be interested in hearing from your friend if its true.

Not quite Coventry/Warwick but in Warwickshire is the A435 Mapplebrough Green as you head south on the A435 from M42 J3 just as the dual carriageway turns into a 2 way 40 mph road the scamera is parked facing you as you come round the bend. Been caught once but never again. You have to make sure you get down to 40 mph as you round the bend otherwise he'll get you. He's there quite a lot....beware!

The A46 Stoneleigh van was on the bridge today around 1.30 p.m....on a clear sunny day, funny that scratchchin

78 mabe, if very unlucky, 76, not a chance, guidlines the police use state 10%+1 so 76 is not going to happen, if it did tell your mate to speak to paul smith, he will get it revoked for him.

78 is also very unlucky, and could be easily fought on the grounds of caliberation of the instrument used to measure his/her speed, and im sure paul smith would be interested to hear about it, not only could he help your friend but also look into exactly what happend thus helping others (us?) in the future.

Those seem to be the usual Scamera/Tripod spots. They also sit on the A46 further on from the Snitterfield bridge, much nearer the long downhill section before the Birmingham road roundabout.

I have it on very good authority that Warks Police are about to take delivery of 2 Focus ST's and 2 Impreza STI's. Both models have been evaluated and are to become part of the fleet. Nice! Most likely be unmarked too rolleyes

Don't forget now that the weather 's getting better don't forget about the scamera bike ---stories tell me he's found lots of hidy holes.

See the bit in Warks ABD
