Hi all, quick query...

As the title says, does anybody know any reputable builders in the Knutsford/Mere/anywhere-around-there area? I'm looking at buying a property that would probably benefit from an extension and could do with finding somebody reliable (and preferably cheap as this is partially as an investment) to help give me an idea of the scale of the work involved.

Thanks in advance! beer

I'm an architect and live on the Wirral. You're a little further out than I usually go but would be willing to come over and give you some advice maybe one Saturday morning?

You may have to show me that TVR though

Cheers for the replies guys - off to see the property on Thursday but, given the fact it doesn't even have central heating fitted yet, it's safe to say there's a LOT that would need doing to it! Will yell if anything comes of it...

Mick Dignall in Widnes.

I've used him for a few jobs and he's good.

I am your local Building Inspector (Macclesfield Borough Council)..., if I can be of any help, PM me. I wouldn't like to recommend a Contractor but you will find that the best are the ones that aren't available! Be very wary of any that can help you out straight away, always ask to see examples of their work and try to talk to previous clients.

hehe Unfortunately, I think the one in Mere I was looking at before needs about £150k+ of work doing to it (i.e. it needs rebuilding). Currently tending towards a spot in Mobberley, though, that should only need a five figure sum throwing at it to make it habitable. *sheds tears at the house prices in Cheshire*

Okay it's a bit far but I had a brilliant loft conversion done by a guy called COLIN SALE in Southport. He's booked up 3 months in advance, only works on one job at a time, never asks for tea or coffee, comes at 8.30 am goes home at 6pm, and keeps the place spotless. I once came home early to find the guy Tearing a strip off the electrician, for trying to leave the site, when there was brick dust not swept up.

We found him by asking around and we found 4 people who spoke highly of him.

Plus when we asked him about the staircase to the loft he did not try to bullshit us that it would be okay

but then the returns can be very good particularly along mere heath lane

where a certain solicitor to the motoring stars resides

tried meller braggins for leads??

as for house prices they've always been high even when they were low (if you know what i mean)

Are you planning to live in this new house. If you are doing it up to sell on at a quick profit then you will be liable to pay capital gains tax, another factor you need to consider.Unless of course you live in it for a while then you could sell it as your primary residence and you would`nt be liable.
Just a thought.

What about Lymm? I know quite a few people in the property game. How much you looking at spending?
