They're so practical you can do all-sorts with them.. only last week I was pulling trees down with mine.

One day the neighbourhood was most amused when I moved a 10ft by 8ft shed across my garden by pushing it with the nose of the landy.. it didn't break either !

Anyone else..?

Matt.

Gardening is a definate Land Rover thing! Pulled out most of the plants/trees from this place with my TDi 110, unfortunate mess when had to pull backwards and tree came out a bit quick - chain and tree ended up kissing the bonnet = mess, bent alloy!

Now with the TD5 always garden with a longer chain or a rope

Anybody tried the Kinetic energy rope on a tree ?

KERR plus badly anchored gatepost=1/2 tonne of flying masonry It'd have to be a hefty tree I suspect. And do it on your own land -bloody off roaders ruining the green lanes and scaring the sheep Get Orf Moi Land !- not really, they're very welcome providing they play nicely and follow the rules

Tried to pull a Sierra out of a muddy track. Used the capstain winch first but the shear pin went, the spares were locked solid and couldn't use them. So tied a loop around the winch and drove towards the car, then reversed at a rate of knots. Took 3 goes.
And I won't mention about getting stuck myself in mud in a 110.

The usual landy build quality then, look good built like sh1t, just bought a disco and its marginally better, within four days of purchase;centralockingfailed-radio stuck on foreign channel-back door stay came off-fog lighs inop-& horrendous wheel wobble when you hit any bump in road, that was steering damper. you can't beat british engineering

must fun i ever had with my landy.....taking the cash from the sucker who bought it.What a pile of poor engineering.A 98 defender that broke down and had more things fail on it than any vehicle i have ever owned.
My 54 series 1 was a thousand times more fun and more reliable.Never again.

I dare say if Osama Bin Laden and his band of followers had drove Land Rovers and not Jap imports they would all be in custody now,or they would lay dead in the deserts proping the side of a broken down LR.....you can tell i'm still bitter can't ya

Got my Forward Control V8 stuck in a pond, water well over the pedals!!! Well my instructor did bet me that I could'nt get through it, all was well until I slowed down and then it sunk Winching it out proved to be a good excercise though, took 2 other wagons and some extreme tension on the cables.

Dunno why you think that, I've towed trees out, moved skips, towed the JCB, moved about 20 tonnes of sawn-up telegraph poles and towed a couple of whole ones, and all with my Disco or the Rangie that preceded it.
