Shopping at lunchtime in a Sainsburys.
Took the M5 and parked well away from the shop in a space with loads of empty spaces each side; so as to reduce the chances of door dents from joe public.
Come back to find that someone appears to have dragged a heavy white object up the back of the car, across the entire spoiler, onto the boot and across the roof, before pulling it off the roof and down the side of the car! I know it was white, because the scratches were white! On the boot it appears the object was rubbed backwards and forwards several times...
Why the f*ck would someone do that?!
Edit: Tried cleaning off and polishing out with no luck - local guy coming over to give me a quote tomorrow, but looks to be £300'ish from the description.

Sainsburys CCTV is not released unless through a solicitor, court order or at the request of BiB. I asked before I left, and to be honest that's fair enough as anyone could walk in and ask for it!
Did call the local police station and spoke to the desk sergeant: I was technically on private property so it's a civil matter unless a person is hurt or injured. i.e. if I'd caught the b@stard doing it and hurt him, they'd have been interested!
And to the earlier question, yes it was the M5.

FFS! This "not my problem" attitude the police have these days really pisses me off. What difference does it make if it's on private property? If someone burgles your house, that's on private property and the police would attend that wouldn't they? Sounds to me like you were fobbed off as they couldn't be arsed to get involved.
Had my pride and joy reversed into a couple of weeks ago and i was livid for days. It must be worse when the damage is on purpose. It'll be some workshy no mark who can't stand the thought of someone having more than him.
The repair quote i've had is £300 as well, not a happy camper!

So does that mean I can go into someone's garden and put a brick through their window and it's not criminal damage because it's on private property? That can't be right.

That attitude fing stinks. Typical of the service you expect these days.
Does that mean that burglery and vandalism to houses is now a civil matter as it is on private property.

Can't be right - If I half inched the contents of the shop would this be a civil matter??? The car park has public access therefore is treated as a public road. You are being fobbed off dear boy.

Sorry to hear it John. Your M5 is such a beauty

My sentiments exactly!
I feel absoulutely gutted for you, especially knowing how much you love the car and what great condition it was in.
I just hope that maybe one day you can catch them and give them a 'piece of your mind'.
