GTV/Spider Intermittent wipers - help?

Has anyone had problems with their intermittent wipers only working intermittently! Well to be precise they aren't parking properly so I can't use them.

Is there a switch or something inside the wiper motor I can fix? I understand a new wiper motor is around £350 Any suggestions appreciated. Rich...

hi richb,i've got the same problem on my astra estate(for work)and i had the same problem on my old alfa 75.the problem was a dodgy connection on the wiper stalk.a trip to the scrappys for another wiper stalk(£7.00) and it was fixed.hopefully yours should be the same.all the best.

There's a sort of known problem with them where they only go about two inches up the screen, then next 'intermittent period' they go another two, etc.

If I remember right, it can be caused by a dry or dirty solder in the wiper control unit - if you have a look on sportsalfa.com or alfaowner.com (can't remember which, I'm afraid) someone has written a rough DIY guide to fixing it.

Of course, there's likely 100 different causes, but that's definitely one of them.
