I'm off to get married in Las Vegas next Saturday, and have a Mustang lined up with Hertz (not the Shelby, but I'm hoping they run out of the regular ones and have to upgrade me FOC ). I recall from some posts last year that hire firms might restrict output on their cars - anyone driven a rental Mustang from Hertz and will I be gettig the full experience (or as much as can be had from the base V6)?

Julian - you may want to spend a few mins online seeing if there are any specialist companies in Vegas willing to rent a V8 or alternative. The V6 can be perhaps a little uninspiring if you are expecting a huge "Mustang experience", and some of the companies on the strip used to rent specials such as plymouth prowlers/vipers etc. Cannot promise they have the same legitimacy as Hertz though! All the best on the wedding!

You wont be getting the full experience, but its a fine start. The only thing really wrong with the V6 Mustang is the V8 Mustang. The V6 makes you feel good, looks good, gives you a smile when you see it the morning and has a nice pace, but its not the head banger the V8 is.

The thing to do (as Jimbeaux points out) is to disconnect the battery for 30mins allowing the gearbox to reset itself, the auto gearbox then learns your style of driving. That makes a big difference, although, I found our rental learned my style in about 200 miles.
