I CURRENTLY HAVE A SQUARE FACET FUEL PUMP ON MY VIXEN.
HAS ANYONE HAD THE EXPERIENCE OF IT GETTING VERY NOISY??(YOU CAN HEAR IT OVER THE ENGINE!)
ARE THERE ANY QUIET PUMPS ON THE MARKET??
THE PUMP IS SITUATED BY THE TANK IN THE REAR, THE ENGINE HAS TWIN 40 CARBS.
THANKS GUYS

Avoid any direct contact between pump and body ! So, do not use a screw or bolt from pump to body. Be sure that a piece of rubber (+/- 10mm) is between body and pump. Again , NO screw or bollt through the rubber insulation.
This will definitive help.

Even when new mine was very loud, went back to mech pump. It gave too much pressure for my old carbs anyway.

The facet pumps are known for being wery noisy, I'm afraid that's just the way they are.
I have a Carter P4070 (rotary) fuel pump which is a lot less noisy but still it can be a bit disturbing if fitted wrong. The Carter pumps have built in fuel pressure regulator
and have extreme high capacity.

When using a facet pump (or almost any type of aftermarket pump) you must use a pressure regulator, like the "Filter King".

Thanks guys,
I spoke to a guy at merlin motorsport. He suggested a facet silvertop pump.
I've fitted it, 100% quieter. Great.

Thanks for that inspiration! I was just completing my engine rebuild when I read your posting and remembered how noisy my electric pump was. I have now put a standard pump back in but left the electric one as well. The electric pump has a seperate switch, so now I can use it as a back up or to get fuel up the pipe quickly at start up then switch it off - and have some peace and quiet.
