Sad article in Motor-Sport News. IOMKAR secretary Sam Adcock has indicated that the Peel GP may never be run again. Following the tragic loss of his wife Helen in 2005 and the current road works that have stopped the race this year the IOMKAR have decided to put all their efforts into building a permanent track at Jurby.

They have asked competitors who would still want to race at Peel to express their enthusiasm for the race by e-mailing Sam at info@iomkra.com

I have been twice and watch my nephew Tom Huxtable race there. Both times have been breath taking in both the beauty of the island, the hospitality of the people of Peel and the excitement of the race, and I was on the side lines. I believe I can say on Tom’s behalf that they were the most thrilling races of his life. For those who have never raced at Peel it is the most incredible race possible in the whole world of Karting a must before you retire.
So I hope with this posting to start a small trickle that will become a flood of e-mails to the IOMKAR. Peel is our own MonacoGP and must not be forgotten if for no more noble reason than to keep the memory of Helen alive. So come on Grandad, The Baylis Boys, Wilko, Durcs, Oli, Gazza, Big Rog, Teabag, the list goes on. Come on Guys lets save the Peel GP!!!!!!!!!

P.S. Taken from Karting.co.uk board! - just spreading the word!

Whats the deal with Peel? I'm only ever on the island for the TT but if it's one of those 'turn up and race' places it could be an idea for a non-race day. I didn't even know that there was a decent kart track on the island. That place up at Jurby I thought was purely a Duke venture on an old airfield used for testing, bike days and a bit of old fashioned tyre burning.

I was there in 2005, the year Helen died. I was just helping out with my mates prokart that week but the amount of bad and wreckless driving I saw that week was amazing.

There were alot of angry people around who wanted the clerk of the course to step up and take action, but he didn't.

It is a real shame that there may never be another Peel street race.

My god! yikes So not the kind of "turn up and race" thing then! Seeing the onboard stuff of the TT gets the stomach going, seeing street racing from 2" off the floor is something completely different and slightly frightening.
