Exhaust System

Hi Everyone, Im thinking of replacing my standard silencer on the Westfield , does anybody know any company fairly local who can make me a Stainless repackable silencer and a link pipe. I have tried LPS in Martlesham but they say that the dont make them anymore.

Hi Steve.

How's about Powerflow? They're in the Norwich area, which may be a bit out of your way, but I had a friend who paid about £400 IIRC for a an exhaust, which was from the cat to exhaust tips, and made for his car. Reasonable pricing considering it was a bespoke part.

Before posting, I've also jsut checked their website, and it seems they have a branch in Ipswich

Tankerman...check out the simpson exhausts bulk buy on the WSCC web site at the moment, they make some of the best systems around and well worth the money, 7" repackable for about £285

I've used these guys several times - in fact I'm there tommorrow to try and get a bit more clearance (not a fault of the original fitting just a consequence of an engine and downpipe swap)

If you remember, ask them if they have ever made a system for a Westfield and can you ask them if they do a repackable silencer,. hope you sort out your clearance probs.

If you go to Powerflow at Honningham...speak to Mark Stacey. He owns the place and should be able to sort you something suitable. He has a background in fabrication and car building (hot rods) so I'd be surprised if he couldnt help.

That was the branch of Powerflow that my friend used

He was very satisied with the result

Its tempting to take the Merc there

They've never done a westfield and haven't got a supplier for re-packable silencers so not much help - sorry

I can now go over sleeping policemen without any graunches so I'm happier!!

Just need to look and see how much clearance I have when parked on top of one and then I can drop the car with some suitable lowering springs - it currently looks like a 4x4 at the moment as I had to put the original std springs back on when it was scraping even on motorway bumps (at speed) It has no interior either so a lot less weight and none of that helps the 4x4 look!!!

I had a silencer and link pipe made up and fitted last year by Concept Engineering & Fabrication, Unit 6 Bridge Ind Est, Silfield Rd, Wymondham, Norfolk, NR18 9AY. Tel: [phone].

I can't remember the guys name, but he made an excellant job of bending the link pipe and making a new 4 in 1 connector. Price was somewhere between £200 and £300 (I know its a bit vague, but it was 12 months ago).
