Hope someone can help with this,

I have noticed that the dials (clock, oil p, temperature etc have been misting up recently.

Does anyone know if I can unscrew the covers and mop up the moisture or is there more to be done?

thanks

The only cure is to keep the roof on. And you wouldn't want to do that, would you....?

Happened to me also recently, but they did clear by the next time I took the car out a couple of days later. Reassuring to know it doesn't just happen to me and, "they all do that sir."

They all do that!

Anyone else noticed that they all have varying degrees of illumination also? My rev counter has always been a shade darker than the speedo.

TVR may buy those from Rover.
MISTY DIALS are standard-equipment on Range Rovers as well.
BTW my Range Rover dials used to starting their business only after
half an hour.
When I did short ways, I never knew about my amount of petrol left.

Yep mine do that too.

My Speedo is darker than the rev counter, which I've always put down to the fact that being backlit the speedo has all the mileometer gubbins

Nope, its because the speedo only has one bulb while the rev counter has two.

I'm sure this has been dealt with before, but can you get a second light for the speedo installed in order to match the tacho?

Thanks,
Steve

My dials mist up but only with the roof down. If the heater is on and the air temperature is cold surely its more likely to be condensation?

I read somewhere on this site of someone fitting a brighter (higher wattage?) bulb in the speedo to compensate for the fact that its the only one in there.

I was told by the factory that the rev counter was intentionally brighter as this was the most important instrument to be brought to the driver's attention...

agree 100% If you know your car, all you need to know is the gear you're in and the revs to know at what speed you're travelling. It's far more important to see the rev counter and ensure for instace that you don't over-rev when the engine is cold. What I miss in a Chim is an oil temp guage

This explanation is a fine example of inventing a good theory to cover a symptom that someone has asked an awkward question about.

In the blurb about the Tuscan TVR said:
"The rev counter is no longer the most important instrument in today's cockpit...the speedo is actually a more important item on the roads of today."

I can't believe that you fell for it.

I have just purchased my first TVR, a 1990 S3, nice sound but crap body.
Started to restore it totally and had the screen out for a new one.
Whilst talking to the screen fitter he informed me that he also had an S3 and the dial problem was also a worry to him.
We came up with the idea of putting a clear silicone bead along the leading edge of the dash, and inserting a T shaped rubber on the outside of the screen, to act as a cover strip.
TOTAL SUCCESS.
If you need any more bright ideas, give me a call on 07813 916054.

sorry Clive, should have repeated the winking smiley at the top of my post in the post itself....

I would never claim to be the sharpest tool in the shed, but even I realised that this was bull...
