Loads of Ultima's at the factory open day.

Nice to put some faces to names at last. Despite some early morning problems with my new quick release umbillical, we managed to get up there and back in one piece. Our longest outing to date in fact, at almost 200 miles.

Made the mistake of seeing how far I could go just using one tank before running it dry.

40 litres = 80 miles!!!!! That's about 9mpg

It's not what you might call economical

Great day. Thanks to the factory for the food and for the replacement steering rack. Not many companies would just replace a part on a car that is over a year old.

Yep, good to see so many Ultimas in one place but not quite as good as seeing them in the sunshine at Le Mans.
Guy, they replaced my steering rack after 4 years (but only a few months use).
CJ, perhaps a spare tank in place of that extinguisher mate.

As a master of good timing and luck, my alternator cable sheared at the crimp 5 miles from the factory. So they fixed it for me there and then. Which was nice.

Trip home was event free, apart from scaring the crap out of the Sunday caravanners on the Fosse Way.

Might think about washing it soon, I was almost embarrased at how filthy my car was. Just to add insult to injury the car parked next to mine had alloy panels so polished you could see your face in them.
