I have learned the hard way about the use of Dart blocks in a GTR with center shift and wanted to share this with you guys. This is a great block and is well suited to large displacement motors. It has the cam shaft positioned higher in the block and widend pan rails to allow for long stroke crankshafts. It is the widend pan rails however that will make it impossible to buy a wet sump pan that will clear the center shift linkage. It is also the same wide pan rail that will make it difficult to find a dry sump pan that will fit. I have contracted Milodon to alter their #31725 pan with a shallow sump to fit the car.

If you are going to spend the extra cash to get an aluminum block make sure that you get one that has the same diemensions of a stock small block Chevrolet. The parts available for the SBC are endless.

The latest..can't use dry sump and center shifter as both the oil tank and the shift linkage occupy the space in the rear of the car left of the transaxle. Cable shifter here I comme. Patrick Motorsports sells a cable shifter kit that I'm told is made for the Ultima cars. Anyone using one?
