Good opportunity to see lots of sportsman pre season teasting as the season long chess game starts in earnest the following week. There is often a lot of other interesting stuff turns up as well. If you are in the area, I recommend it.

I'll be at Shakespeare on Sunday for the test-n-tune in my 996TT. Need some shakedown runs before I start modding it. Anyone else?

Roger Gorringe and I will be at the Pod, and Peter will be at Shakey. Be sure to say Hi to Roger, Peter or I if you are there. At test days, racers who introduce themselves stand more chance of inclusion in that day's photo gallery, and racers who make good cups of tea...well, there's no limit to what we will do to promote them

According to the list I've got we have some forty racers at the Pod tomorrow ranging from Pro Mod to Sportsman ET and from Top Fuel Bike to 9.50 Bike. Pre-booking is not necessary at SCR, so apart from the above-mentioned and Carolynne Campbell with her Rocket Dragster which I think may just be on Sunday I don't know who will be there.

The plan is for live reports from the Pod and end-day reports from SCR although there will be a short break in the live reports at some point as I am being taken for a passenger ride for the Super Mod DVD (and here's me with the perfect face for radio). Roger will keep notes on what happens whilst I am otherwise engaged and I will catch up as soon as I return to my perch in Race Control. The webcam will be at the Pod and because we've now got Broadband there as well as at SCR we will likely up the refresh rate to one minute but that is to be confirmed after we've tested it - I don't want to spoil everyone this weekend if we're not able to do the same refresh rate next weekend.

What a great day out! Weather was really good to us, and I needed it when testing a car with hardly any bodywork!

My pet project the "Veeteor LS/R" made it's dragstrip debut and went 11.42...well pleased!!
A combination of John Webster chassis, Ray Comers old LS1 from his Camaro and the original rear end off Johns MG SVR really hooked up well right out the box. No small thanks to Clive and Jack either!
Changing up early at 5,000rpm, and only using 4 gears rather than the full complement of 8.
Stockish LS1 is in need of bigger lungs to help it make power up to the redline.
Hard road tyres and stiff circuit springs didn't help, so a bit of tailoring for the strip and theres clearly plenty more to come. It's just so easy to drive after the stick shifted Z06!

(Sorry for offending anyones eyesight with it's temporary Caterham panels by the way!)

I was well pleased with the day - I won Plank of the Day award for forgetting to do up the Dzus fasteners on the hood and sustaining nearly a grands worth of damage, then later in the day I picked up Twat of the Day by "losing" the support lorry keys for an hour only to find then sitting in the ignition of the new generator after having half a dozen people searching for them for half an hour rolleyes

Gutted.
