Chaps, can you give me some ball park figures on the following mods?

20" wheels and tyres (likely black deep dish Bullitts) - Is it cheaper to import from the US?
Cat back exhaust (likely Borla or Corsa)
Eibach Pro springs
Stripes

Ideally, the car I purchase will already have these mods, but if not I'll have to budget the costs in.

If Zektor's in the house shout I STILL WANNA BUY YOUR CAR hehe

Thanks fellas.

Well my wheels cost me $1352. You have to add duty at 3.5% plus 17.5% VAT plus of course shipping. If you can collect from Heathrow, I recpmmend Moving parts. I've got a set of Corsas in the attic although I've got to get a new set of clamps. They're around $600 plus the duties and shipping. Stripes are best ordered as an option if you're buying the car new. Spring prices can be obtained from the Eibach website.

Thanks matey.

The sickening thing is just how cheap aftermarket parts are in the US. I'll certainly be doing comparisons on importing v buying in the UK, but duty VAT & shipping probably brings the price difference pretty close.

The good news is we should be moving into our new house in late April/early May. The bad news is Mrs TT wants to replace the kitchen, hence the Mustang budget will be pretty tight.

I know I'll be keeping the car for years and years, but I also know I'll want to get it "just so" ASAP.

The mad thing is I reckon any money I make from selling my 300zx will be spent on mods for the Mustang hehe

Yes, I have been out of the loop for a bit. I've just recently scrapped my old Windoze computer and have gone Apple Mac. I've only been using it for a week, and it's blindin'. Ahhh... no viruses, no spyware, super fast and super stable!

Anyway, my wheels and tyres combination cost me £1190 all in. I never buy anything direct from the USA. I gave North Hants Tyres my requirements and asked them to source them for me. Good price huh!!! When I went to pick them up, even the owner said I got them for a good price... he said he didn't realise that they actually had 'Shelby' written on them... he said he would have charged me more! But the price was agreed before the order was placed...

The Borla exhaust cost me about £460.

The Eibach Sportlines were £300

Camber bolts were £30

Adjustable Panhard rod was £150

C&L Racer CAI kit & tuner was about £450 (I think!)

Front & rear big brake kit was £1600

I think that's about it!

Cheers
Dazza

Excellent, cheers Zektor.

Wheels AND tyres? Blimey, that was a good price. I'll certainly give the North Hampshire boys a bell nearer the time. Ironically, they're only a few minutes away from me at the moment....over an hour by the time I move!

I was surprised at how cheap those Razors are in the US. I've developed a problem with my Weld Evo wheels - all the chrome on the back wheels has cracked and flaked quite badly. Trouble is Weld were bought out by American Racing Wheels last year so I don't know if I've got any sort of warranty. The rear wheels were never right. I was going to replace the rears if it came to that but now find they're $640 each. I can get a full set of Razors for less than two Weld wheels as they're only $230 each for the 20's at Summit Racing.

North Hants Tyres have just quoted me £1395 for 20" Chrome Shelby Razor wheels and Kumho Excta 255/35 tyres cool. I thought this was a great price & I will be ordering from them as soon as current tyres need replacing. They're based in Aldershot.

LuS1fer - sorry to hear about your wheels. Hope you get something sorted soon.

I think "the wheels" conversation is going to be an interesting one with Mrs TT. The exhaust she'll understand (she likes to hear a good engine too), the suspension drop I can probably get away without too much argument. But £1300 on a set of wheels and tires? That's going to take some convincing seeing as that's what many people spend on an entire car!

So......help me out. I'll start with honesty and just show her the pics of all of your cars on 20" rims v stock rims. I don't think that'll be enough though! Suggestions on a post card

BTW, it seems I wasn't joking about the sale of my Zed paying for the mods hehe

Try Summit Racing www.summitracing.com for parts for mustangs - they are spot on for delivery and also can work with UK credit cards - alot of US dealers cant get UK credit card authorised.
I have dealt with Summit for years and they are well worth a visit - they specialise in mustang stuff!!

TT - you have to get creative here with the Wheels v Kitchen problem.

So far you have approached it with trying to justify wheels - because they are so visible they are difficult to get away with and become a focal point of any 'commercial marital discussions' in future.

try approaching it from the Kitchen angle instead...... shop around, spend time and effort in trying to get the price of the kitchen down.
Ideally
a) Overestimate to mrs TT what a kitchen will cost (leaves some room for manoeuvre)
b) Get a poor quote or several for the work/kitchen.
c) then find a way of getting a kitchen upgrade whilst getting a better price - thus releasing an imediate £1500 for new wheels.

If she sees you spending all that time on 'her' kitchen then the wheels will be yours !!
