Has anybody an idea of the amount a TVR dealer would offer for an early 2000 car with appr 13k miles?

Give James a ring he was looking for Tuscans at the weekend
edited because I'm a numpty he was actually after Griffs, Chimaeras, and Cerberas, probably still worth a ring though

Whilst we're on the subject, how much for a 2002 Tuscan S on 15k miles?

Mr Brush, I ran a very early Tuscan(no 32 if i remember rightly for a year until March 2002, I sold it in the end to return to a Griff 500 (due to the usual problems), at the time I could not get ANY main dealer in the south to purchase the car outright, although the general consensus on price was around £23000 ( the car had done 8000 miles, topaz paint air etc), bear in mind the car had cost new 18 month earlier £44000 !! the indpendents were offering nearer £20000.

I don't know how much prices have firmed up since then,I suspect they may have a little, due to the fact that the car in most respect is superior to a late Griff (IMHO) but early Tuscs ( w plate cars) now seem to be avaialble (after haggling) for arround £22-23000 privately, griffs seem to be worth £2-3000 more.

In summary a year on from when I sold mine (privately, thank god!) I would have thought that a 2000 car with a decent spec and colour would be worth between £19-23000 to a franchised dealer, more if you are p/exing up.

Hope this helps

Don't be hasty to sell on a good Tuscan for a low price. There seems to be a strong market for Tuscans at the moment and they are exchanging hands for decent money. Full TVRSH is vital.

Dealers try to make around £4000 on selling a Tuscan, so whatever you see on the showroom floor the same age/spec as yours, knock off £4000 for a rough guide. 18" alloys and AC are desirable options which gained popularity early in the Tuscan's life. Alot of V/W plates do not have A/C, but owners may have upgraded the wheels. If you are non-A/C and still on 16" alloys, they may offer you a little less - e.g. about £5,000 off windscreen ticket.

Im with TUS373 on this one ( hello Bryan) there is a healthy demand for Tuscan at the moment and prices have firmed up and as bryan has said they are option sensetive the only guide you can get is via "Black book" on disk which values a 2000 W tusc with 10k at £c26k trade clean only by doing your homework and being cheeky will you get one for much cheaper.(ive still got misfire bryan waiting for warranty to change over)

Obviously the highly desirable sought after Red Rose models will command a premium, that is if you could find one for sale...

Thanks for everyone's replies on this. I probably mislead you all a bit as I was actually looking at buying a car which was going to be sold back to the dealer if not to me. The car is a July 2000 with 15k miles and FTVRSH, aircon, 18" wheels and can be mine for £25.5k. Does this sound reasonable?

Sounds pretty good to me.

Not too sure with that figure for my 'S'. £28k? Really?? :-/

I know its above typical mileage, but its not astronomic - and £20k drop in just 14 months?

You can pay less but all early Tuscans with 15k miles need some work - you need to weigh this up against those little things that need attention(front end respray, tyres and a service - 2k easy) mine was a fair bit less than the price you quote but had a few bits and pieces needing work which I used as negotiating power...

The car has just had new S02s all round and a front end respray, but it is coming up to needing a 6k service. I suppose it's an OK deal?

Andy,

Yeah thinking about it £28K is a bit low. Dealers will look to make about £5K out of your car I would have thought. They could probably shift it for around £35K meaning £30K would be reasonable to them...

In reply to the original question, When I tried to part ex my 2000 Tuscan with 12000 miles a few months back, NO TVR DEALER would make a firm offer. Best independent dealer offer was £18000. How much you get in part ex depends on how much profit is in the new car.
