In my search for a top notch used Alfa I notice most well looked after cars are advertised with all three keys. One of the keys being a red key.
What does the red one do, are all Alfas delivered with three keys and is it possible to make a set of three from my friendly dealer?...

The most important key to have is the master key. This used to be much darker, more burgandy coloured. The master carries the chip info to program other keys. Lose this and your others and you need either a full set of locks or a rewrite of the ECU

Remember, if you're after a 156 the 2001 model and later have only two keys...

They changed the system as a lot of owners were losing the red/brown/burgundy keys. And iirc it was a bill of over a grand. EEK!

Not entirely certain, but likely to be Code-1 on the pre-facelift cars, i.e. 4 keys (if you count the valet key) and maybe Code-2 on the post-facelift ones (i.e. no master key needed)
