This is my first message and I need help. My S1.5 FHC E'type needs some work on the rear arches and other associated bits in the rear end bodywork. Can anyone recommend a restoration shop, preferrably in the southe east not too far from Sevenoaks Kent, that does a good job for reasonable money. I found Fourways Engineering so far and the local JEC guys are semi retired. I'd rather use someone that knows these cars because I have been caught out in the past.

Another reccomendation would be Alan Proctor of Nottingham. I appreciate that his place is some distance from you, but he does have the distiction of working with The JEC and the JDHT. He has been heavily involved in the restoration of several historic jaguars and Daimlers for the trust. Can't get a better recomendation than that!

You could try looking at www.jag-lovers.org and seeing if any of the guy's in the E-Type forum there have any recommendations.

I'd also try going to the local JEC or JDC meetings and seeing if anyone there has an E and can recommend anyone locally.

I thought E's required quite a bit of looking after in the body work dept. and you're right it needs to be done by someone who knows what they are doing with an E-Type. So I'd expect local owners to have some idea where to take them.

Thanks for these. I have done detailed pics of the work needed and trying to arrange ball court figures based on them via email. The trouble is I can't drive the car right now. (tin worm). Having been caught out badly in the past by so called E'type specialist, I'm determined to keep an eye on it this time - so Southern Classics are worth a go, but I heard they were very expensive. Any others gratefully received. Thanks for responses so far.

I had an e-type and for bodywork I used Jo Field – Hampshire 02380 321495, he is recommended by the E type Register. Very good guy, if he is still available for work.

Southern Classics are just round the corner from where I live. I've popped in their a couple of times and they are very welcoming and friendly. Having seen some of the work they were carrying out on everything from MkII's to AM DB5's including a couple of E-Types their workmanship is outstanding.
