How hard is it to fit a new clutch to a 145 cloverleaf?

My local alfa dealer reckons that its going to cost £700 based upon £473 (5.5hrs) labour and £220 for the clucth kit!! yikes

Funny thing is just prior to him quoting me this price I asked the parts bod how much for the clutch kit including all components/ springs etc and was quoted £104, so do Alfa just bump up the prices on the parts if they fit it. When I informed them that their parts man had only 5 minutes ago quoted half what they had for the same part he replied, 'oh well its was probably for a reconditioned one' yet at no point did the parts man say this. Do they all take the piss like this then?

Very common for manufacturers to supply recon clutches. VW do and they're great value for money.

I'd have over your £104 and take the car to a local garage who will charge £30 per hour. You'll have the whoole job done for £260.

So get someone else to do it. My GTA is not going near an Alfa dealer the second the warranty expires, there are some decent specialists about that will do a better job for less money. Alfa main dealers are all monkeys in my experience...
