Hi, am new to this web forum thing, but hoping I can get some advice on a new Mustang.........
I am after a new Coupe' V8. Hoping you guys can tell me whether I should go for a manual or auto (am thinking manual!?!?) and also any companies you would recommend with regard to sourcing me this car! Also, are there certain options that I should go for etc. Any advice greatly received as I am a novice in this field. Many thanks.

First off - great choice
Personally, I'd advise a GT V8 manual - but that's a personal thing. The auto is pretty good too by all accounts. Get one with the interior upgrade and leather as a bare minimum (the base spec. is very low rent unless you intend on seriously modifying it).
The other options are exactly that. Don't bother with Sirrius ('07+ models) as it won't work in the UK. The 1000W Shaker means you lose a fair bit of boot space and err.... that's about it
LOADS of options, both factory and OEM - so the world's you oyster!

GT 5-Speed manual (so you can play with that V8)
Black (silver stripes)
A nice set of 20" alloys (preferably Bullitts)
Lower it with some Eibach springs
Add a tuneful exhaust (Borla/Corsa etc)

Thanks for the advice. Have already sent a few emails to Nick @ Importmyvehicle.com - seems to be very helpful. he mentioned about this cali special thats pretty popular over here - so I am going to look at that one a bit more.
Whats the differnece between premium and GT's??
Also, have any of you guys attempted to drag one accross the pond yourself? Is it worth it or should I really just go and see a specialist and do it through these guys directly?

Premium is the upgrade package for the GT (GT=V8)

the manual / auto thing is perspnal preferance, but my choice would be auto, i cant comment on the very latest ones, but every american manual i have ever driven (4 5 and 6 speed) has been absolutely horrible.. having said that i am biased, because i hate manual boxes with a passion..

The new Mustang is a very good stubby shifter. It's the GM stuff that's abysmal.
manual vs auto - i went for manual and was very specific about it.
HOWEVER, and it deserves to be written in caps, if you are spending any time in town then auto is preferable. Test drive both, and I don't mean a 5 min blatt either. Take a manual for a 2 hour run and sit in traffic for a 10-20 minutes and you will soon understand what I'm talking about.
I'm finding the manual absolutely gruelling when I'm in town. Even when i've done long days 5-600 miles in a day, and i get off a motorway and start wandering round town, the heaviness of the clutch is not lost on me as I screeetch away from every set of lights by accident.
What I swear I'm discovering is that there are two types of Mustang owners. The weekend users and the day to day people. The weekend people all swear by the manual as its the "manly" thing to do , whereas the people who use it day to day seem to favour the auto.
Test drive both though.
The other thing to remember on the manual is that when on cruise the car will only accelerate in that gear as its obviously not going to change down. This can be annoying, but it can also be quite nice. Annoying because you want to accelerate, but quite nice because its not trying to head butt the horizon as it slips down 3 gears, nails you to the back of seat whilst it launches itself, but rather accelerates gently away.
(I still like my manual though, but I have to admit to choosing my van if i know I'm driving locally).

i completely agree, good sense threre.. i'm a lazy driver - i use my bike if i'm after a rush, even though its just an old kawasaki GPz 550, its still good fun, and those old Kawasaki air cooled 4 cylinder DOHC enignes are raspy revvy and gruff, exactly how i like a bike!

Go for the Auto.
Even though it is a matter of personal choice.
They are more than quick enough.
The first big traffic jam, and you will be glad you got you an Auto.
