Morning all,

The chassis on my TVR needs some welding and there's a couple of other jobs that need doing so I'm looking for some secure garage / workshop space to rent / blag where I would have enough room to take the body off the car to work on the chassis.

Does anyone know of anything suitable / available in the Consett / Rowlands Gill / Derwent Valley area ?

Further away is a consideration if there's nothing local.

Thanks in advance

Al

I know of some space in Houghton-le-Spring. Lots of room but it will cost you circa £20 per week.

Thanks M15ley ! that's probably a little too far away and a tad more than I was going to pay but to give me a ballpark to work from, what would I get for that..... size, facilites, full snap-on toolbox etc ?

Cheers

It's not that bad if it has light and power: even if it took two months that's only £160, you'll be saving that in labour several times over...

Andy Wilkins looked into this a few months ago for his own eppic Chimaera rebuild. He's now doing his at home, but he may have some information on what property's about, and the prices that you can expect to pay.

Nice guy, and i'm sure he'll help if he can :- www.pistonheads.com/gassing/profile.asp?h=0&memberId=48060&f=8&t=377756

He may be able to give you some hints for the body-off too thumbup

Thanks Paul

I emailed him a while ago about it and he was very helpful but I don't think he knew of anywhere.

The available space is almost infinite but only facilities would be light and power, no tools etc. Also you would have to drain all fuel from the car due to insurance risks etc.

I know! It's a derelict shed on the Cummins site with power from a nearby street light, isn't it...
