mini race engine value

hi im thinking of selling my race engine out my mini its a 1480 with 74mm omega race pistons, Titan roller tip rockers, 649/858 camshaft, belt drive timing, double valve sprung, ultra light flywheel, paddle clucth, straight cut gears, salisbury lsd diff, micro dynamics electronic ignition,
Does anyone have any idea what an engine of this spec is worth in good condition.

Thats the strange thing with mini's, rusty old heaps still fetch way over a grand when they should only be worth a couple of hundred quid but conversely nobody wants to spend any proper money on modified mini's or parts.
That's not directed at the comments posted here, just a general observation.
I agree with Guru's comments, you ought to be able to get at least 2k for it if you prove the quality of the components, but the sad truth is you'll probably never get that.

Of course it isn't fcked mate..... Only done 5000 miles.
If you want good money - You need receipts and it needs pedigree (either a bill that proves it has a had a reputable builder or better still a bill and a power plot to show how much torque it is making, irrespective of who built it).
Not wishing to rain on your parade, but if it doesn't fit into a recognised category for racing/rallying/hillclimbing, it is just a serious collection of bits as already stated here.
If it was Mini Mig engine giving 140+bhp on mapped ignition I'd be inclined to offer you a good 750 quid for it

I bought a 970 'S' engine some years ago. It was alleged to be 'all-good' and re-built. The guy wanted over £1700 for it, c/w s/c c/r box and I said I wsa not interested. He asked what I would give for it and I said £600, so long as it was genuine 970. He said 'No way', but 2 weeks later turned up at my workshop saying here's the unit, can I have the £600. I checked the stroke and it was clearly a 970, so I bought it. On stripping it, far from being 'all-good', it needed a full rebuild, the head was cracked, bores worn, so it was bored out to 999 cc, gearbox was s/c but needed a full rebuild with all new bearings etc., New 940 head was gas-flowed and milled down to suit with all new valves, crank ground and balanced and all new APR studs.
Of course, once rebuilt with Omegas, 286 cam, light steel flywheel plus all the usual rally bits it was fine (if you like 8000+ rpm and fcuk all torque) and gave c.88 bhp @ 6750 rpm (that's from memory), but if I had paid the original asking I would have been well stuffed.
As 'fwdracer' and 'guru' have said, any competition engine is only worth anything if the history of the last build and the ability of the builder are both known.I was asked to re-build a "Genuine Downton 1275 'S' rally engine" a few years ago. The only thing 'Downton' about it was the sticker on the rocker cover. It was a very knackered standard 'S' engine. After rebuild it gave 95 bhp with a 276 cam and successfully did several Historic International rallies. A nice torquey unit.

No, it was someone I knew from historic rallying who had been asked to sell the unit by someone he knew.
looking back, it was a good buy at £600 and once installed in a rally car was good in the up to 1000 cc class, but it had so little torque compared to my 1275 'S' that I didn't enjoy driving it and it was sold. It still competes in Historics with good success in its class.
