Sketchy details but basically a load of Italian cars and bike park up around Bristol old town!

There will be a convoy of about 12 De Tomatso's and at least 3 Lamborghini Diablos heading down the M5 from Gloucester to this event early on Saturday 28th.

I've been the last 3 years, if the weathers nice its a great day, sat in a bar on Corn st, supping a Stella watching the cars. Make sure your around for 3pm for the mass start up, its deafening. Normally a good selection of cars, everything from a couple of Merci's to Alfa spiders, F40's & even a locally owned Zonda turned up a couple of years back. Normally a good selection of Italian bikes as well, free entry, just stroll down Corn St & wander about. cloud9

Spoke to one of the organisers yesterday. They're worried they won't be able to fit all the pre-booked cars in!

I got in early and have booked a local hotel for Friday night.

There are some photo's around the web of last years large gathering of Italian exotica.

Just head for the centre of Bristol and ask anyone where Corn st is. I went down two years ago and it's worth a look.

Cracking turn out & a nice afternoon sat in a bar car watching

However confused

What happened to the 3pm start up? Last few years everyone started, let engines warm up then let hell break loose, this year only about 2 cars fired up Fair play to the owner of the Ferrari engined Lancia Themea, he started about 10 to 3 & carried to about quarter past bow But with everyone else I was a bit dissappointed. I even saw a Pagani T'shirt wearing chap about 20 yards from the Zonda & as there were about 40 people stood around waiting to hear it start up I asked if he was intending to let everyone listen, no he said as it doesnt do it any good. Yea red lining it from cold is no good but people just wanted to hear it idle! I thought that was a bit crap.

Maybe a UK car show in Corn St, can you iminagine what 30 odd TVR's would sound like cloud9

Nice pictures. In reply to Splodge it is a matter of a very few people working their nuts off to keep the show running while everybody else enjoys themselves. The person who would have announced the 3pm engine start was unfortunately detained elsewhere and could not get back to the commentry booth on time. The bikers started up on time and sounded brilliant. The rest of you could have done the same. Sorry if I sould a bit sharp but I'm still tired from spending 11 hours on my feet.

I respect your efforts mate, it was a great day & really well organised, there was a call on the tannoy at 3pm, i remember it well, i was just dissappointed that there didnt seem to be any owners even near their cars let alone about to start up. Infact there were 2 calls to start up, just nobody did!

(Apart from a couple of the Lancias! )

Have you seen the price of fuel recently?

Seriously, we (all 28 members of the De Tomaso posse) were just emerging from San Carlos restuarant after lunch and had done the 11 a.m. sound off.
The 11 a.m. sound off succeeded in filling the Aussie hotel with carbon monoxide fumes as one of the de Tomaso was parking right outside the door and I suspect this was the case with a lot of other business down the street!
Personally, I don't need a sound off as it is the worst thing to do to a cold engine and to say that punters want to hear a car at idle is bollox. They want to hear you revv the nuts off of it, but they won't be about when the engine needs an expensive rebuild and you are looking for funds.........

Yes, points taken. Flipping petrol prices!!
The "Start Engines" was introduced a couple of years ago and seems to excite some people. The bikers were very enthusiastic this year! I was able to announce the 11.15 am one on time and as I was in the bike area in the PA van I heard them loud 'n clear. Very nice! I don't know what the cars were like. Was the response any good?
