Did I read on here somewhere that a Ford Ranger front indicator lens is a suitable replacement as an alternative to the kia ?

I saw one drive past and thought it might be suitable, searched on ebay and found this...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dl

if it was not for the £12 postage I would give it a bid. Anyone compared ?

If they are suitable, that would be dead handy wouldn't it. Are Ford Rangers still a production model ? Sold in UK or US only ?

I did say at one point in one of the earliest threads that I thought that the Ford Maverick one looked kind of similar. The Ranger one might be the same. So does the Jag XJS by the way. If any of those do fit, it would be IN the recess like the Kia one, rather than with the overlap as per the original.

I have a 54 plate and its nothing like the one in the pic , I checked my last one Y plate and thats nothing like either?? both mine are part of the H/lamp unit, if the one in the pic is off a Ford Ranger it must be an older model

Yes Ken it was an older model I saw and thats what is on ebay. I reckon its the same as the Maverick one in Tvrgit's link. and that will be a fit-in not an overlap as he says. pity as they are still available, and pricey though at £21+ but at least it comes with the reflector and bulb holder and is not just a lens like the Kia

Ah well, never mind eh ?

Yes we know.

You can't buy the Leyland ones any more.

We are discussing suitable alternatives.

I have been looking at all sorts on the way to work this morning and I quite like the idea that I might be able to get a combined indicator and front fog (or just sidelight) unit as fitted to Mitsubishi L200 (recent models) I also saw and older L200 and a Vauxhall pickup that seemed to have straight replacement lenses ?(albeit, in the hole rather than overlap fitting) I will continue to look and measure...

I can add another source. Checked several options for my S1. Found that BMW E30 front indicator lens is very close fit (full indicator unit will NOT fit). One advantage is these were still available aftermarket in clear and 2 levels of smoked. I've seen the discussion on smoked rear lights and same applies at front. After family discussion we went for light smoked on BRG car, family and friends agree it is improvement. After trying options I fitted lens using bostic, good adhesion and seal. One point; glue approx 1/8" thick plastic washers between body and lens at screw holes or you may crack lens when tightening. While on subject, if reflective surface has gone then the internal reflector from an E30 can easily be adapted to fit. If the bulb holder has corroded then several options, we found for example that some Toyota fittings can be used, need to cut down length of Leyland body a bit. I actually used bulb holders from XK8! (crash job), cut body back a bit and cut 2 of 4 lugs off bulb holder and it now push/turns in and seals perfectly. If you want to go for a smaller, neater stainless screw then simply araldite up the holes in the body and redrill.

The Kia ones are pretty good if you are careful separating the old Sherpa Van lenses from the holders. Have the Sherpa ones really all gone!!

Thanks for that, this is the first time I've tried this so I hope you actually get 3 pics to see. Yes that is an S1, at some time in its life it gained a V8 bonnet, dont know why as there is absolutely no sign of accident damage. Incidentally if bonnet alignment doesnt look right that is because bonnet wasnt fully closed when I took pics! http://s199.photobucket.com/albums/aa

I was one of the first Kia Konverts, but those do look good! Good find.
