Anyone from Welwyn Garden City / Welwyn?

Hi all

can you give us some help?

We are moving to Bucks / Herts over the next 4 weeks, trouble is we are from Bournemouth & apart from constant trips to these areas at the moment we are pretty foreign to the areas & which are a no no.

We have done the usual web searches for info on areas (crime rates, schooling, flooding etc) but we would value some input from someone who actually lives there or knows the area well? as good as the web is I don't think you can beat un bias advice & views from people who have personal experience of an area.

soooo..... if anyone can give us their opinion on Welwyn (suburb of welwyn garden city) it would be much appreciated, we are looking at Danesbury Park road in particular (west side of A1). From what we have seen so far everything looks ok but being from out of the area you never know if your missing something obvious

There is a good John Lewis, a Waitrose in Welwyn and a large Porsche garage at Hatfield - surely you'll need nothing else! Good road/rail links to everywhere, no idea about schools. Ex of Blandford, now east Herts, not far from Welwyn.

Not lived in Welwyn myself but shop their occasionally....brought up in Hertford...6 miles east....live in St Albans...6 miles west. Ditto Sarah's comments really. Whole place is great really apart from St.Evenage which is a *hithole (excuse the language! )

Thanks for the information guys, we in fact ended up in Old Amersham for 12 months or so, but we will also be looking for property in & around those areas still, so any more info appreciated
