has anyone on here got one - are they worth the extra (significantly!) cash?

old school watch makers. own movements. well respected by those in the know.

I find the style a bit classic (bland). Very understated.

Are they worth the money.

Same as any mechanical watch. Yes, they will last forever

I have 2 at present.
They are perfectly formed, exquisitely engineered, subtle machines of the utmost grace.
I was happier the day I attained my first Patek than when I got the Ferrari.

I have wanted a Patek Philippe for ages now and I can only justify buying one as something to hand down to the next generation. As I have 3 boys I will have to buy 3 of them at some point yikes

I like them to look at but don't really like the dress watch style myself. They seem to hold their value better than most other watches. As Rex said something to hand down.

Although i'm sure your children would be just as happy with a everyday classic sports watch.

I work with a bloke who has two, the less expensive being the world timer,

Which to me is one of their better looking watches.

Literally little engines on your wrist but they're ooohhh soooo boring to look at. I'd prefer a Breguet which, if anything, has even better heritage.
